I don't blame him dude. My dad made about $110k/year and I used to call him cheap, but now that I graduated and have a decent income I really don't feel like wasting too much.

I'm personally torn between getting a 350z, WRX, or keeping my old '99 Civic (which is in decent condition, no mechanical problems whatsoever). Only thing is it doesn't "show" my wealth, so to speak.

If you buy a car to 'show your wealth' then forget it. There will always be someone with a more expensive, newer and better looking car than you. Buy it because you want the car, not because of what others think of you in the car.

This is why I need to stay out of these threads. Posts like this just infuriate me.

Why waste all that money on a status symbol that serves the same f(x) as a $10,000 car?

Single. 98 jeep wrangler (that I leased in high school and decided to buy com college). Only has 92k on it. Looks brand new. I will probably be getting a new one in a year or 2 since they are changing the body style.

My apartment doesn't have a private one car garage, if it did, I would probably get a nice sports car for the weekends and fancy dinners. Pretty fun driving up to a black tie event in a jeep wrangler with no doors

But of course, getting a house comes over wasting money on cars. Can't find much for below 450 here on LI :-/

You're really gonna hate me, Sonikku. I'm 21, still in college, and my salary is 93k. I get my review next week (aiming for 12% raise, most likely will be 10) and bonuses to boot.

I drive a 99 VW Passat, and I live like I'm on welfare. I just don't have anywhere to put the nice things I want, so until I get a house I'm just banking money.

I'm an investment research associate. I don't really love the field, but I don't mind it either. The day goes fast due to always being busy.

You can live very comfortably off of $85k if you're single or married (without kids). With kids, it depends on your location, but you can manage quite well with it, since most people with kids do.

How'd you get into something like that while still in college?

I read the article about you. Congratulations. I wish I could be that successful. Its cool how you got money from Microsoft by random chance, or was it? I tried at one time to start up a small-scale business like that but I just didnt have the resources. Anyway, good luck.

i'm guessing there are less than 10 people on these forums who really make over 85k a year.

actually, there are a lot of californians on here, but that doesn't count because 85k cali money is like 30k everywhere else.

Why would you assume that? Not everyone here is very young. $85K isn't a ton of money.
