If anything, we should class action sue ecount for the extreme dormancy fees.

In fact, any dormancy fee should be illegal in an account such as these. We put money in, that they can invest until we pull it out. They make interest on our money, they charge us to make a deposit. There is no excuse for a dormancy fee. I believe these fee's in california would be illegal under the gift certificate laws. A web certificate could easily be considered a gift certificate.

lol strangely with all my webcertificate accoutns I never did get an e-mail from the hhacker dude lol.

Anyways I don't really care if someone stole my e-mail, half those accounts were with e-mails I signed up for just for the certificate...

Remember when they had $5 for free? lol...yeah I got away with about 20 for free after my family signed up lol

I got a letter from ECOUNT too... from Eric M Berman Attorneys at law, mineola, NY.

Ecount is claiming I owe them $76.80 ??? and has turned me over to a collection agency.

i have no idea how I could owe them money.. watch out for these dot com companies...

Sounds like there are 2 problems in this thread, one is the hacker stealing accounts, and the other is Webcertificates themself and their crappy service.

I don't owe them any money, but I remember using them once a long while ago. But that one time was all it took to convince me not to use their service. I can't remember for sure, but I think it was their stupid fees. I do remember writing to them complaining about something.

They probably ticked off this hacker in the first place which started this whole thing.

I had over $10,000 in my account once when all advantage was paying through ecount.
Good thing I paid the withdrawl fee and took the money out of my account.

People used webcertificates to get the sign on bonus from various "club" services e.g. AutoVantage, Complete Home, Connections, Travel Works...you name it, they're all run by one or two big companies,
also to sign up for magazine trial subscriptions...anything where you wanted to prevent scam companies
from charging the membership fee. Appears Webcertificate processed the charges in spite of no money
in the account, HOWEVER, when you call up scam company to cancel membership, they tell you it is already cancelled. MEANING webcertificate never really paid the membership fee, just stupidly "thinks"
they did and tries dunning you for it. A stupid, incompetent, arrogant company. I wonder what shyster
lawyer paid for these accounts? I assume webcertificate aka c/base sold them for 5-10 cents on the
dollar knowing how questionable they are.

i suspect webcertifcate maybe part of it, yes they do this so they have a good reason to leech all of your money. there is no way hacker's that good to get in and get all that information.
this is so freaking obvious that anyone can see throught them. if you had 100 dollar they will make most of it disappear then drain the rest and say maintenance crap.

LOL...PayPal is a far bigger scam than Webcertificate will ever be. PayPal tried to make me liable for $700.00 two months after the sender sent me those funds - PayPal claims that the sender used a fraudulent card but there is no proof of that. Conveniently (read: suspiciously), this occurs on the highest-dollar-value transaction that I had ever received through PayPal. To add insult to injury, they try to slap another $10.00 charge on me for the privilege of getting a chargeback to my account. Talk about a scam. My position is that it is PayPal's responsibility to ensure that a fraudulent card is not being used...if they can't do that job, then they deserve to be stuck with the chargeback (and so far, they have been

If you look at other threads and forums, you will see that PayPal has done some pretty heinous things to many, many people. They are truly the worst pay service out there. I predict that shortly after they go public (this year), Elon Musk will run PayPal into the ground, and will move on to his next SCAM.
