For those that despise SUV's, might I ask what you drive?

I think this is a fair question:

For those that seem to take pride at picking on SUV's, what exactly do you drive??

I don't think so. Go look at the SUV thread...SUV bashers far outweigh the defenders.

Nissan Maxima, midsized family sedan with some pep.

I would own one SUV - a BMW X5

If I want a big vehicle, for offroading, or lots of haul space, I will get a truck

If I want a family car with lots of room for kids and such, I will get a station wagon, or just mabe a minivan

I probably will never own a stereotypical SUV (Ford ANYTHING, suburban, etc) Well, mabe a suburban, but probably not

A 2000 Mercury Cougar.

SUV's est mala.

Nah, actually I don't care all that much. I just think that a lot of people are wasteful with 'em. Like some soccer mom with kids. Go buy a van! Van's are cool. My 2nd favorite car was a minivan.... It served me well.....

The Ford Excursion oh so annoys me though. The gas mileage is so horrible it makes me cry.

the suv thread that aaronp started? i was there for the first page or so, then i got bored of it, but most of what you see there is people making reasonable arguments for and against suv's... it's not bashing per se. not that many people going "SUV'S SUCK" or whatnot.

I don't bash SUVs, but I don't like 'em either.

I drive a Chevy Prizm (aka Toyota Corolla)

Same here on both counts.

Prizms/Corollas Rule!

I drive an itty bitty Nissan (blah, I'd rather have a Toyota), and while I don't absolutely hate SUVs, their drivers do get on my nerves quite a bit. For example, I'm driving down the road, and this one woman in an SUV gets behind me driving erratically, weaving in and out of the lane. I check the rearview and she's yapping on a cell phone. Apparently, I'm not going fast enough to suit her so she's nosing her SUV as close to my bumper as she can get it. I check the rearview again and she takes her hand OFF the wheel to scratch her head (apparently she didn't want to drop her cellphone, which she was holding in the other hand).

I have tons of stories like this one, one which involved a man driving with little kids in the back seet. Arghhhh!

Isn't that sorta stereotyping? But I guess stereotyping's okay, right?

For peeps that seem to dispise SUV's so much, have you even TRIED driving one before??

I've driven three different generations of Explorers (first was truckish riding, second was better with decent handling, third is almost car-like). I've put 1,000 miles on our new Highlander Limited and it has a great feel. And I've driven a CRV, a Grand Cherokee, a new '02 Trailblazer, and an Expedition.

Out of all of them, the Expedition was the biggest of course and I still had no trouble controlling it as I am used to the ride and feel of a long-wheelbase F-150.

But my daily car is a Camry and I have no trouble moving from vehicle type to vehicle type.

I drive a Cessna 182RG!

Look, driving is one of the most unsafe and most inefficient forms of transportation!
I am so sick of these 'What do you drive' and 'these vehicles suck because' threads.

They are severely pointless and meaningless.

SUV's suck because the majority of the people that drive them are driving
with a severe power trip and bad attitiudes.

Oh and let's not forget the roadway planners on their expedient execution on improving our major roads and highways!

And you base this on????????................

Can you show me any studies or statistics on that? Or have you done some roadside interviews to talk with the drivers? Hmmmmmmmm.........

where i live this is freaking common place...big suburbans and navigators driven by stuipddd women. frankly it worries me; if i get in an accident w/ them im in some serious trouble safety features or not....its not fair to everyone else that we should have to join them in bulking our mass up... imho

regarding suvs heres what ive driven

ford explorer 99 (about 50 miles) truckish
honda crv (didnt dislike mainly cauze it handled like a car and got good gas mileage...dont carefor the 'suv image though)

ive also driven the big lexus suv (err forget name - the toyota land cruiser) handled like a boat but very nicely appointed ...pfft stuipd suvs

i know its not a big repatoire of driving experience, but frankly i hate the suv image (i also tend to hate things that get popular fast!)
i hate gas guzzlers w/o a reason...(i like fast sports cars )

It's a LARGE vehicle. But as long as I can handle it, I could care less. I thought that our F-150 w/camper shell would be a bitch to handle. Not even close, I have no trouble maneuvering that bad boy. Heck, I was in downtown Baltimore making U-turns and parallel parking with the mofo
