Quick question for everone: Did anyone save the original page that stated that the mouse was free after after instant rebate online? If so, can you send it to me? Thanks. I don't believe that this was a pricing error because I remember that the page specifically said that it was FREE when the mouse was purchased online and $5 in store.

You're absolutely right...how many times did they "mess up" the price in that add? I didn't get in on this deal, but you guys might have a real shot at getting compussr caught in their lies. Seems clear to me that they underestimated the demand rather than screwed up the price. Good luck all.

Holy Christ valsava, I want the 15 minutes of my life back it took to read this drivel. You greedy unethical bastard, hogging all of AT's bandwidth with your posts!!
Guess what, life ain't fair. You better not move out of your parents basement if you're going to argue so vehemently about something as stupid as not getting a mouse.

valsalva, are you still yapping your pie hole? The sad thing is, unfortunate people somewhere actually have to listen to the bs spew out of your mouth on a daily basis. If you have a wife/ girlfriend, I send her my condolences.

All the esoteric phrases and semantic dancing in the world don't hide the fact that you're still an idiot. Your argument, at best, is a loose house of cards stacked on one very wrong premise.

Everybody understands that "hot deals" are often limited by quantity and it is your ethical responsibility to only take your fair share
Bwahahaha!!... hold on while I find my chair again!

We must have forgotten about that one; The arbitrary, ambiguous set of rules you "established."

Let me break down your argument for those who don't want to waste their time in a philosophy class learning how to compose arguments of significant complexity so that some people will ignore the illogical nature of your fundamentally wrong premise:

"I want one too!"

I pose this question to you: "Is it gluttonous to buy 10 mice at full retail price?"

While you sit there drooling in your attempt to put the square peg into the round hole, I'm moving onto to another hot deal.

oh.. btw Happy Easter!

here is what i just emailed to CompUSA. use any part of it as you see fit:

CompUSA:

Please refer to California Business and Professions Code Section 17500:

17500. It is unlawful for any person, firm, corporation or
association, or any employee thereof with intent directly or
indirectly to dispose of real or personal property or to perform
services, professional or otherwise, or anything of any nature
whatsoever or to induce the public to enter into any obligation
relating thereto, to make or disseminate or cause to be made or
disseminated before the public in this state, or to make or
disseminate or cause to be made or disseminated from this state
before the public in any state, in any newspaper or other
publication, or any advertising device, or by public outcry or
proclamation, or in any other manner or means whatever, including
over the Internet, any statement, concerning that real or personal
property or those services, professional or otherwise, or concerning
any circumstance or matter of fact connected with the proposed
performance or disposition thereof, which is untrue or misleading,
and which is known, or which by the exercise of reasonable care
should be known, to be untrue or misleading, or for any person, firm,
or corporation to so make or disseminate or cause to be so made or
disseminated any such statement as part of a plan or scheme with the
intent not to sell that personal property or those services,
professional or otherwise, so advertised at the price stated therein,
or as so advertised. Any violation of the provisions of this
section is a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment in the county
jail not exceeding six months, or by a fine not exceeding two
thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500), or by both that imprisonment
and fine.

Please note the term "reasonable care" in regarding advertised pricing. The State of California does not take kindly to "bait-and-switch" retail practices or other misleading or unscrupulous advertising practices. As a resident of California, this transaction is protected by California law and I intend to make sure that my rights and the rights of all California participants in this purchase are protected. Your remedy for this situation is to simply cancel all transactions involving the Logitech mouse. This remedy is not to my satisfaction. Remember that penalties for violation of this statute include monetary payment and jail time. As such, I put CompUSA on notice that I, and on behalf of other unsatisfied California participants, shall file complaints with the following agencies:

1) Office of the California Attorney-General
2) Federal Trade Consumer Consumer Bureau of Consumer Protection
3) Better Business Bureau

I urge CompUSA to rethink your remedy for this situation and devise a new remedy that will avert serious fiscal repercussions to your business.

Wow. That was pretty professional and what not... I wonder if CompUSA will respond. Let us know, eh?

I also think they're being "evil" by not honoring a deal that was clearly stated as being FREE.

Hey, what are you complaining about? I was supposed to get FIFTY, and I didn't get any either! How do you think I feel? About fifty times worse than you!!
So hey, does anyone know of any free stuff that I can put on train tracks now? Watching a train run over those PETA stickers was pretty lame. Oh well, at least I have this super cool "I stayed up until midnight to order a mouse, and all I got was bitched at by ValsalvaYourHeartOut" t-shirt. Too bad no one can see it while I'm hiding under my bed crying and having nightmares of hellfire and computer geeks with pitchforks.

You may get your wish to the tune of a whole lot more money. Many credit cards have pretty hefty fees for charging over your limit. If CompUSA charges it, though it appears they won't, you could wind up paying a whole lot more for this mouse than you intended...

Exactly what I was thinking...

I am amazed at how this sort of thing happens again and again. Someone (or a whole lot of someone's) get in on a deal that turns out to be a pricing error. The retailer cancels the orders. People start screaming about law suits, reporting to Attorneys General, etc.

Now sometimes, retailers come through (like Dell and Best Buy) and either honor one item per person or fill the orders and just take the hit. Some don't.

I think it's pretty simple. If CompUSA has upset you so much on this deal, just don't shop there again...

Jesus H. Christ, this has got to be the most dimwitted response so far. Are you competing with salsa086 fellow? Did you just figure out that life isn't fair yesterday and decided to share your new found information with the rest of the anandtech world? Look at yourself!! YOUR post is an absolute 100% percent waste of bandwidth. MY posts address an important issue on ATHD, that of people hoarding hot deals and jacking other people -- mine is 100% relevant and contributory. Yours is 100% composed of ad hominem attacks and unintelligble remarks. Maybe before you respond, you should walk upstairs from YOUR basement and ask your parents for some help on this matter.

I will accept your ad hominem attacks are your frustrated way of acknowledging that you're wrong. Thanks.

We must have forgotten about that one; The arbitrary, ambiguous set of rules you "established."

Brief reiteration: ordering 10 mice in a limited quantity deal is PISS-POOR, and this is not established by me, but is tested and time and time again by community standards. Even in this deal, just look at how many UNIQUE people have posted JUST to tell govtcheez75 he's a jerk for ordering so many.

Let me break down your argument for those who don't want to waste their time in a philosophy class learning how to compose arguments of significant complexity so that some people will ignore the illogical nature of your fundamentally wrong premise:
"I want one too!"

Unfortunately, "I want one too!" is not contained ANYWHERE in my arguments. Therefore, I challenege you to specificially and without generalizing, address the logical argument I have constructed. Put up or shut up.

I pose this question to you: "Is it gluttonous to buy 10 mice at full retail price?"

I have already addressed this issue in several other places. The answer is that I did not say that specifically. I encourage you to actually READ before you post...maybe ask your 4th grade teacher for help if you don't understand some of the words.

oh.. btw Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to you too.

Yodayoda, so what you're saying is that you're not happy with not being charged a crapload for mice/mouses you attempted to hoard? You want them to go above and beyond cancelling the order and give you something more? Come on. I'm not one to order 100 $0.01 mice, but hey, if you want to do it, fine. But when they claim it was an error, credit you back, and you expect them to give you something for free, that's too much. Bait and switch, come on.
