For those that have the Arc Midi 2 - did you install your ssds behind the motherboard?

It seems like a really odd decision for Fractal to not put caddies in the back and expect to install the ssds before installing the motherboard (and I think PSU). Wondering if anyone ended up handling this differently. I thought about using velcro tape but not sure what that will do with heat in the spot I need to put the tape on

I've also emailed Fractal to understand their logic behind no caddies even though all of the other cases including the Mini seem to have them.

No, I would never install a drive that would make me pull out the motherboard to get to it on a atx or matx sized system.

I figure that the Mini was just designed after the large version and they put the brackets there as a new design feature. More drives in a smaller system. Off hand I think I've only used one of the back ssd slots on the mini most of the time. Kind of a pain to swap them out, but for a long term stable build probably fine.

Yeah, the design doesn't make sense. I emailed Fractal about it and they did say all the other cases came after it - oh well. I ended up ordering a 3.5 caddy thing to place both ssds that I have

That feature is essentially a carry-over from the Define R4, which the Arc Midi 2 is more or less a stripped-down version of (the frame/internal features are nearly identical). Easily removable caddies came later. I used these in my R4 the first time I put a system into it, but subsequently dropped it as soon as I had to replace a drive and realized what an enormous hassle it was.
