not sure which one to get, the acer or this. Actually just bought the acer, wondering if I should return it and get this one.

I just bought one over the phone by calling one of COMPUSA's reps. They are selling for $129.99 and the 30 dollar mail in rebate is valid. (12X4X32)

Joe

Scratch that. I bought 3 over the phone for a total of $424.58 before rebates.

I got one of these yesterday at CompUSa. It has "burnproof" screened right on the cd-tray. It works great - it burns 100 megs a minute. I tried launching every app at the same time during a burn (photoshop, outlook, agent, ie) and it survived like a champ.

Question - the Compusa cashier said the rebate WOULD work for the drive, but I didn't pick up the rebate form. Is it a compusa form, or an Iomega form?

Has anyone tried this drive with CloneCD? If so, was it successful? It's so new a drive, it's not listed on CloneCD's site as confirmed to work. Just would like to know if anyone has tried.

I tried it with CD clone last night. NO GO I will upgrade the firmware (make it a Sanyo) And try again. The Clone CD sire does not list the iomega or the sanyo on the site(at least not that model).

tim make sure you have the latest version of CloneCd, because it should support this drive if you flashed it to sanyo's firmware. I have this drive myself and clonecd does support it for me. A little funky tho. you might try getting it to read and write more than once. Also setting it to a lower speed sometimes helps too.

There are actually 2 versions of this drive. One with burn proof and an older one without, so you have to look at the box to know if your model comes with burn-proof or not.

the Sanyo CRD-BP900P is listed on their site...

Even though CloneCD does not list the IDE CDRW's, they do provide a link to sanyo's web site, and checking on Sanyo's site for Supported Application , you can see a O on the column for BurnProof, even though they don't list the CloneCD version no...

Think it's time to go and get the CD-RW at CrapUSA, as I missed out on the 12x10x32 Iomega giveaway and the buy.com TDK rebate fiasco! 10x CD-RW speed is not really a big loss... Burnproof is the biggie to get thou! (although I would rather if I had the money get the TDK with it's Nero s/w as Adaptec is rather iffy!)

I just got mine, Thx to CrazyDiamond. The sales rep was like only the 8x is 129. WE proved him wrong

Anyone flash theirs under windows 2000 yet? I'm a tad hesitant since the flashing program states to use 95 98 98SE, ME. Thanks in advance.

just went into my work and bought one of these. My coworkers were amazed that this was $129.99. My compusa discount wouldn't have been nearly this cheap. my discount is that i pay the cost (whatever they pay for it) and that would have been $165

does any body know how RELIABLE these drives are? just wanted one for three things:
1. copy certain cds so i won't be so nervous about loaning one to a friend(one lost my thirty dollar tekken 3 soundtrack)
2. remove whatever extra data's making my tomb raider l.r. spin drives endlessly and crash two computers i have access to(all different brands--one's a pioneer 114)
3. play regular games like a cd-rom does
tia
c diamond, thx fo the deal

Well I was assured today at 2 p.m. that the local CompUsa had so many of these there would be NO WAY they could sell out before I could get there tonight. Sent my girlfriend over around 5:00. Of course they are all sold out just as I knew they would be (well except for the 4 drives still listed on their system that I'm sure are sitting in back for employees). But, for those of you in the same boat, my girlfriend was able to buy it tonight for receipt purposes and we'll get the call when the next shipment comes in. I'll cross my fingers and hope it's not like 2 years from now. I'm actually surprised they didn't try a little harder to fix the situation, if you know what I mean. That's what happens when you make 18 year olds managers! Never thought I'd diss the younger generation, but there's definitely a difference as far as customer service goes.

nice deal...personally I'm willing to wait. I suspect it's not going to be long until what you really want will be well within reach ( repeat that 3 times really fast )

with the Intel 40% price cuts and Western Digitals 30 gb platter debut it's just a matter of time before the other bigger ticket items follow suit. Of course I'm just an old goat that doesn't mind being 8 -12 mos behind the bleeding edge ......besides, there's always ForSale/Trade forum

i got mine for $129 no problem, but the compusa people said the rebate wouldn't work. i guess people are getting mixed information about it. but i've been burning like crazy and it is doing 700mb cds at 12x with like 3 other applications running. burnproof is awesome. now to flash the firmware. and try the rebate. anyone have any definite info about it? do we say anything special when we send in everything? anyways, even if i don't get the rebate, still a HOT deal.

Just picked up two of these in Nashua,NH. Almost thought I was too late when I went to the usual burner shelf, only some 12x10's as far as the Iomega's go. Then walked around to the back by the MAC stuff and they had a whole shelf full of Iomega stuff, with plenty of these drives. Rebate coupons were sitting on them, asked a guy if they were good, didn't know, checked, and said he didn't find anything to say they were. The AD does show this SKU...

just installed it and can't get it to burn properly. I try to burn some mp3's that are converted to wav by cd creator 4. then not that far into it, it doesn't burn any more data on the cd, it still has the burn process going, but the megabytes stay the same, so I just alt-ctrl-delete it after i wait a while and it doesn't work.
this has happened 5 times in a row now

Gdog update the EZcdcreator 4. Here

I was on ver 4.02 and it didn't recognize the drive at all. Running ver 4.03 now.

BTW, i found out that you cannot flash the drive to 3.27 under win NT/2k. I have to say that this drive rocks. The burnproof is a must, I was reading anand and burning at the same time. I love it. Much thanks to you all.
