$1150 for an ~700 square foot loft at 7th and broadway in downtown los angeles with gated parking. Considering some of the other rents I've seen for places in downtown, I'm very lucky. I also have a ten minute walk to work and don't have to use my car during the week (~5,000 miles/year). With the new Ralphs opening, and all metro lines meeting up here in downtown, it's been quite convenient.
When I lived in Houghton, MI it was around $250 a month, plus utilities, for a 4-bedroom house. Nothing real nice but we were college guys, who gives a fsck?
Here I live with my parents but the rent is similar, for the most part.
$900 a month for 1 bedroom upper condo unit. It's a nice size, not huge. Big bedroom, dining area, kitchen and living room. Bathroom has a washer/dryer combo unit so that's nice. No taking the laundry out to a laundromat. For the area it's a pretty decent price. Rent around Poughkeepie area is ridiculous.
My buddy rents a basement apartment over in newburgh and he's paying $750 and its pretty sucky. Kinda looks like they did a rush job finishing it up as there are spots where they don't have sheet rock up. His bathroom is insane. The ceiling is only 6 1/2 feet high and rather than put in recessed lighting they got a light fixture that you brain yourself on if you're not paying attention.
1 bedroom, 1 bath for $650 a month... comes with a garage as well. Decent space overall in a decent area of town (the outskirts, so no ghetto-ification). I just wish I had a dish washer so I could be lazy and because the kitchen only has 1 sink. Such a pain washing dishes with only one sink.
