For those who still need Taiyo Yuden CDRs... 100pk for $30 at Target B&M

With all the recent deals at Best Buy, The Wiz, OfficeMax, etc., I know everyone is all stocked up on Taiyo Yuden's by now. But just in case you need more, Target B&M is selling the Fujifilm 100pk 700MB 80min 24x color CDRs for $29.87 this week (12/2 to 12/8). Unless you live in NYC, this is a slightly better deal than buying online at TheWiz because you save on shipping (although you'll have to pay sales tax cuz it's B&M.)

If you want to save a buck or two more, I'd check out my local OfficeMax B&M store first to see if they still have any of the HP 16x CDRs left. OfficeMax has been clearing them out at $14 for 50pk. They're Taiyo Yudens, no different than the Fujifilm 24x.

Well, so long as they have the screw-in spindle lock... they all seem to be Taiyo Yudens regardless.
At least so far...
HPs, Sonys, Fujis, TDKs... every CD spindle that was TY had those spindlelocks.

Btw, not all Sony's are TY, so be careful. Make sure you check to see where they are made, as some Sony's I've seen bear the dreaded "Made in Taiwan".

I'm going to go check out Target on my lunch break to see if I can find these.. is there any good rule of thumb to tell if the CDRs are Taiyo Yuden or not? Anything to look for on the packaging that would indicate it either way? TIA.

They always say "made in Japan" on the side. I've also heard that the spinning disk up top which keeps the plastic cover on is usually an ivory color.

Is the screw-in spindle lock something that is obvious without opening(buying) the package?

The local Target had plenty of these left.. I picked up one for $30. They were also running sales on 30 and 50 packs, but this was the best deal as far as price per disc. They dohave the ivory colored screw-in spindle lock on top, and the discs themselves look pretty cool too. Hopefully I have better luck using these for car audio than I did with the last spindle of Imations I bought.. ugh. Anyway, thanks for the heads up on this deal.

chiz, mostly the tdk from CC are make in taiwain and they r not ty. the fuji 100pak come out to be around .29cents a disc.

Yup, the two ways to check for TY spindles is make sure:
1) Made in JAPAN
2) Screw-in spindlelock... (not the twist top cover)

Of course, just to make sure, you can check with CDRIdentifier afterwards.

Yah thanks for the updates. I always look for "made in Japan" but never bothered to check TDK's. I use CDRid, but will stores take em back after you open em? Anyways, saw another thread saying CC has Fuji 50 packs for $9.99 after 2 MIRs ($10 and $5)...not sure if I just want to spend the extra $10 now instead of waiting on $30. I'll probably just get them at Target, I'm lazy like that
