Good luck cashing that warranty through Negri. I bought from Negri but only because they were the cheapest at the time. I don't expect them to honor the warranty if something happens to my phone. I've read mixed bag of stories regarding warranty claims through Negri. Just look at their simple return policy on their site. Very anti-customer and one of the worst I've seen from an internet retailer.

Negri has the phone for $614. Only a moron would buy it from Negri now when other sellers are selling it for <$450. You can buy the phone for $450 from Amazon resellers and be covered under Amazon A-Z guarantee and purchase additional 2yr SquareTrade warranty for cheaper than just the phone at Negri.

Got mine from negri for $460. The ntt docomo version. Runs like a champ

Then be sure to check out the permanent docomo sim unlock thread over at XDA so you can restore your real IMEI instead of the generic IMEI you currently have. It will allow you to use services like Google Wallet and others that require real IMEI. I posted the link on the official Galaxy Nexus thread.

It'll be announced, anyway. I doubt it will be out in the US before August.

The Galaxy Nexus could easily satisfy me as my first smartphone! It's a good deal right now I think.

this website says you should definitely wait for the newer phones:
http://www.bgr.com/2012/03/22/now-is-the-worst-time-ever-to-buy-an-android-phone/

The article assumes getting into a new contract. If I bought the G-Nexus, I wouldn't enter into a contract. But since the only way to get the TMO version of the One S is through T-Mobile, I would have to enter inter a contract I suppose.

The One S (TMO version) currently lacks the cool arc-polish. It lacks the pentaband of the G-Nexus. It forces you to micro SIM. The screen is worse. I just don't see how the One S, aside from its CPU, is better.

I'd say it's true if you buy subsidized phones on contracts. I definitely wouldn't get something now with a One X or GS3 coming soon (though who knows if either are coming to T-Mobile anytime soon).

Those that buy unlocked phones. The Galaxy Nexus is pentaband, works on T-mobile well enough, and is pretty cheap now. Assuming the GS3 works on T-Mobile, it will definitely be quite expensive for a few months unlocked.

also from the rumors it looks like the s3 will also "only" have a 720p screen.

even if the gnex is pentile and the s3 isn't, imo the difference between pentile and traditional is less apparent as resolution increases.

so far all the s3 specs suggest evolutionary changes, nothing must have yet.

I've decided to bump this thread up cause after hearing the announcement of the GIII, I made up my mind to get the One S.
I have 2 upgrades ready since FEB and I'm itching to use it.
Im in a situation where all 4 lines have already been extended till Dec 2013 but I still have upgrades available.
It was a no brainer for me as its $250- $50 rebate and -$100 for the phone trade-in promotion going on right now making the One S $100+.

Currently in a similar situation. Decided to switch from a Sprint family plan with 2 lines to T mobiles Family BYOP plan. Even after picking up 2 GNex's from the Play store, my wife and I will be saving about $1,200 over the course of 2 years.

Yeah as much as I'd like to go to ATT and have a vast selection of phones to choose from, Tmobile is so darn cheap for me.
I have 4 lines with 3 lines getting 2GB of data and 1 line with 200mb.
With 1000 mins and unlimited texting, its $156 TOTAL everything month for me.
Nothing come close.
Plus I like the fact that they will provide me with unlock codes pretty much whenever since I have 4 lines.

Update: I bought the Galaxy Nexus. It arrived in two days in a sealed box. The phone has ICS 4.0.4 installed.

My GF has been using a Nexus One for two years and already had her own data plan; I had been using a dumb phone without a data plan. We decided to merge our accounts into one family plan:

1000 minutes/month
Unlimited text
2x 2GB Unlimited data packages
International calling for my phone ($5/mo)
Our TMO voip land line ($10/mo)

Total for all, including est. taxes: $105.00

This is the amount my gf use to pay for her plan alone, so we are pretty happy at this point.

For anyone still looking, this thread is semi out dated based on the fact you can get a Nexus /w warranty for $400 even now which IMO makes the nexus the better choice off contract. IMO the One S has too low a res for the price you pay.

If TMO had the One X... that might be a different story. I've noticed you can already get a AT&T One X for $549 which in that case I might say One X.

I bought mine from Google.

For the life of me, I don't understand why every phone doesn't come with pentaband 3G.

Don't we assume TMO will release the One X soon? If so, what is the problem?

Off contract, its a no-brainer to buy the Nexus for $400 vs $549 for the One S.
The beauty of the One S is that you can get it subsidized where as you cannot for the Nexus.
To be honest, I had zero interest in the One S when it was announced solely for the reason of not having a 720p screen. I told myself the #1 priority for my next phone has to be a 720p screen.
Now that I've had it for 2 days, I can say that its the best screen I've had in any phone.
From HD2>GS1>G2>IP4>G2X>GS2.
I think the screen is so close to the glass that it seems to have a 3D-like effect.
Sure, I'd love to have a 720p screen but its impossible to find that is a smaller phone.
Every damm 720p phone is now >>4.6" these days

Because the carriers don't want you using "their" phone on other networks. It's a lame ass US carrier system we have. I honestly hope that a ton of people starting buying off contract and going prepaid to save money. Maybe it will smack some sense into the US carriers...

Wait I just read what I said and it was a LOL moment, the carriers would NEVER do that.

When I was on T-Mobile this was true and from what I read recently it still is: if you have an Android phone like a Nexus One or Galaxy Nexus(or others) with mobile hot spot built into the OS then T-Mobile lets you use it for free.

Confirmed. I'm able to use the hotspot on my gnex without paying extra on Tmo.
