Damn, forgot about this.
Galaxy Nexus it is.
Not to mention the fact that you'd be guaranteed the next Android update.
That last bit sealed the deal for me, or rather for my sister since she's the one getting a new phone. You can find the Nexus for $150 less, it has a higher res screen, and, most importantly, there's not going to be any carrier nonsense about delaying Jelly Bean for 5+ months.
Right now I've got a Sensation, and it took me forever to get this thing put together the way I want it (running ARHD 6.6.2 with about half a dozen mods, Anker battery, etc). T-mobile still hasn't pushed out the OTA update for their Sensations, so if not for the ROMS I'd be stuck on Gingerbread still.
In the future, I
might consider getting a non-Nexus phone for myself, just so I can tinker around with it, but for the family, and for anyone who just wants the phone to work and not have to mess with rooting and ROMs and endless hours on xdadevelopers, Nexus or iPhone is the way to go.
