Can't believe that Keanu Reeves was only mentioned once.

He had Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures and The Matrix. He was even bad in those.

I actually don't think most posters are considering the premise of the thread title when making their suggestions. The majority of the actors mentioned have pulled off at least one or two good roles, despite a largely mediocre career.

IMO, one has to consider the combination of cast, director, writer and premise to outright dismiss a movie. Any "Wayans Brothers" movie can be dismissed. However, as mentioned, even Marlon Wayans did a good job in Requiem for a Dream, for example.

IMO, Sandler actually does a fair job in Spanglish, Reign Over Me and Punch Drunk Love.

Yeah.. I actually enjoyed Punch Drunk Love. Not because of his acting, but the script and story was interesting. If that movie was releasing today.. I would have shunned it as soon as I saw Sandler acting in that movie. You also have to keep in mind that the same director went on to direct There will be blood.

He is always that mumbling stuck up dude... who screams from time to time.. just to get peoples attention, that is how he is in every movie. Adding insult to injury.. he always casts Rob Scheider in his movies.

I cannot, for the love of movies, accept Adam Sandler as a good actor.

are you serious? Training Day is no different from all of his his other roles. He's just a little louder. That Oscars was "reparations year," if you ask me.

Denzel Washington has only ever played Denzel Washington. He has no range whatsoever. Kevin Spacey is almost exactly like this, but he's managed one or two roles where he seems to branch out.

That's like saying you hate DeNiro or Pacino. They're great actors but have played nearly the same character in all if their movies. I love both of then but in reality they play almost the same character in everything they do.

Oh and I love Heston. Ben-Hur is one of my favorite movies ever.

That's true. A bad actor/actress does not always turn out a bad movie.

In that case, I can still appreciate a good movie even if there are some sour stars in it.

I have sworn off all Mel Gibson movies. I will no longer watch them in a theatre or on a TV. Too bad, too, because I liked a lot of his movies.

I also feel the pain. I thought Apocalypto was hugely entertaining, innovative, and masterfully paced...but it's hard to watch anything else from him without thinking about the "nut job" factor.
