Maybe I'm doing it wrong but I have no problems reading any of the sites mentioned in this thread using IE11 with ABPro. No blocks at all. Anyone else see this? Every time this thread gets bumped I check for changes but none so far.

That could be an option. Since they allow some ads through (I believe the advertisers have to pay for this), that could be how you are getting through. I actually enjoy the fact that my ad blocker is annoying them that much, and I haven't encountered one on a site that I felt I really needed to get to.

Maybe, but I never see any ads at all. One correction, can't get to Forbes now. No loss. As long as the Times still works, I'm OK. The other sites mentioned still load for me. Add Wired to my no go list. Not going to pay or whitelist it. TweakTown still loads.

They haven't allowed adblockers for a while now. What ticks me off is they are listed on asrock's site. When I built my last pc their site had good info about my mb.
Ya I could see them but they kept trying to cut me off as thier ads couldnt load...... (I think they are script based and having scripts DISABLED stops them from loading)

As long as I pressed the ESC key BEFORE THIER SYSTEM DETECTED IT COULDNT LOAD AN AD,I could stay on the page......

I'm not even sure what they expect, I've tried disabling all my security adons only for that site just to see what it takes to make it work and it still does not work. Do they actually expect people to uninstall them? Screw that. Their site is not worth visiting enough to do any of that. I see forbes links now I don't even bother. Even if disabling stuff would work I still would not bother. I was mostly just curious.

Someone in China or other place that does not have copyright should make a site that scrapes forbes and rehosts the info, just in spite.

I think it would be interesting to see statistics on such things. What percentage of people who visit their site use ad-blockers? And did they experience a drop in followers that is equal or less than that percentage?

Some of these I can see - not really a tech site, so an acceptable loss. But tech sites? That seems a bit on the stupid side.

They're doing something other than checking for ad block extensions. I use a host file and Edge and Forbes tells me to disable my ad blocker. Can't read anything on their site.

Guessing....try to plop down a cookie on your computer from the (blocked) adserver, then check to see if the cookie's there.
I get "disable adblocker" notices on some sites too, even with Adblock disabled, because Ghostery also is there, blocking trackers and their ilk.

:hmm:
So here's a thought:
Google Glass, with eye-tracking technology.
"An ad was displayed, but you did not look at it enough. Please view the following ad, ensuring that your eyes remain focused within the indicated area at all times. Audio output will be unmuted during this time."

The future is here. What a time to be alive!

Actually it is scary, with all the tracking going on these days I can see it come where electronic billboards will actually be targeted to the general public in the area. Like it will check all their data and determine the best kind of ads to show.

Some guy with a medical issue where he has to wear depends walks by, and then it starts showing depends and other underwear diaper type ads. lol
