So I'm hearing Fords will need to take up two spots to charge since the wires aren't long enough and Ford's port is opposite of Tesla's. Going to be some mad Tesla owners if they are blocked by Fords.

I doubt it. A lot of Superchargers are just not that busy despite all the FUD you hear. Also this is only a issue with V3 Superchargers with shorter cables. Tesla is now deploying V4 Superchargers with longer cables which will resolve that issue.

It’s not ideal, but it should be a short term problem - Newer Supercharger cabinets will resolve this as they are rolled out.

And yes, as Brovane points out the reality is for most Supercharger locations this won’t be a problem. There are a few extremely high demand locations in major travel corridors but in going on 5 years of owning Teslas we have had to wait for a supercharger only once for just a few minutes.

My Mustang received the update to use the Supercharger network! YAY!! It downloaded on the drive home from work and I opted to install it when I arrived. Now all I need is the adapter from Ford which is slated to ship sometime in May. This is so exciting and will open up so many more travel opportunities!

Rivian vehicles gained access to the Supercharger network today. Just like current Ford owners current Rivian owners will also have to use an adapter.

My adaptor showed up today from Ford. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but I'm thinking Thursday I might head over to Peoria to do some shopping and maybe stop by the Tesla station to try it out.

Unless you pay a monthly membership fee to Tesla you will pay about 30% more. Which apparently even paying 30% more can still be cheaper than other Fast Charging charger networks.

I wanted to keep it simple so I just used the plug & charge feature offered by the BlueOval network. This is just a fancy way of saying I didn't have to do anything except pull up and plug in. The vehicle handles everything else from there even the billing aspect.

Like @Brovane mentioned if I wanted to DL the Tesla app and become a member for a monthly subscription I believe I would receive a discount. That wasn't the point of this exercise though. I just wanted to see how it worked or even if it would work.

Here is a copy of the receipt I received after the charge was completed. Like I said this was just a 5 minute test. DCFC(L3)charging is expensive that is why I do 99% of my charging at home.

DISCLAIMER:I am not an attorney with a focus on traffic violations.

I think that even if I'm not fully pulled into the spot the person that hits a stationary parked vehicle is the one who would be at fault.

That is correct. So if you do the math it came out to .53 per kWh which you are also correct is very expensive.

For comparisons sake last year I did a road trip out to Cleveland using Electrify Americas charging network. It varied from location to location but on average it was .43 per kWh. While at home charging in off peak hours I pay right around .13 per kWh.

A gallon of gas has 36 kWh of energy stored in it but combustion engines are only like 25-30% efficient at best (on the highway). Electric motors are closer to 90%+. Take all that together and seems like 10kWh of battery power and a gallon of gas are roughly equivalent. Both should travel 25-30 miles or so, +/-

Usually most EV's in the CUV class will do about 3-4 miles per kwh of energy. So 10kwh, About 30-40 miles some variable depending on the exuberance of your driving. I got around 3.1 kwh per mile driving from Las Vegas to Barstow a couple of weeks ago in 90+ degree weather, elevation gain of +298 feet and a average speed of 74 mph. In city driving I usually get 4+ kwh per mile. EV's excel in efficiency when you get lower speeds as compared to typical ICE.
