Local dealers here have stock on Hybrids. Lariats are easier to find since they are kinda expensive. They are going for MSRP as soon as they hit the lot but not 5-7K over. It's a regional thing, I think. The problem is finding a dealer that has one to actually look at and test drive. I generally hate CVT's but I haven't driven a Maverick, so it might be better.
I would be shocked if you found a dealer with any Hybrid in stock or on the lot. Ford has already said that 100% of Hybrid orders are Special Orders for customers only. No allocations for dealer inventory.
Ford is watching their dealers very close on this one and if a dealer is caught putting in fake Special Orders for their lot Ford is threatening to take away future vehicle allocations for that dealership.

Yep! That's the one I was specifically referring to and said you should check out. Glad you found it and it sounds like the Mav might work out good for you!

That's what the dealer I stopped at said as well, hybrids are order-only, no dealer demos or lot cars. They can't keep them in stock either!

Just announced: the 2022 Ford Maverick has been chosen as the 2022 North American Truck of the Year! It won out over the Rivian R1T and the Hyundai Santa Cruz.

Watch the announcement ceremony

Official Press Release:

HOT WITH CUSTOMERS, THE ALL-NEW FORD BRONCO AND MAVERICK EARN NORTH AMERICAN UTILITY AND TRUCK OF THE YEAR HONORS

DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 11, 2022 – The all-new 2022 Ford Bronco has taken home the 2022 North American Utility of the Year award and the all-new 2022 Ford Maverick received the 2022 North American Truck of the Year award today.

This marks the second year in a row a Ford vehicle has earned recognition from North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year™ jurors, following last year’s top honors for F-150 and Mustang Mach-E.

“We’re thrilled and honored to earn both Truck and Utility of the Year from the NACTOY jury for the Ford Maverick and Bronco, especially among such a strong field of competitors,” said Kumar Galhotra, president, Americas and International Markets Group. “But we’re also proud because these awards are well-deserved recognition for the tremendous amount of work, focus and energy our teams have invested in designing, engineering and building exciting vehicles for our customers. This also reflects the overwhelming reception we’ve had from our Maverick and Bronco customers alike.”

North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year awards are bestowed by a broad and distinguished panel of 50 jurors, recognizing the most outstanding new vehicles of the year – those that define or redefine their segments with superlative attention to innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and overall value.

As the flagship model of the Ford outdoor brand of 4x4-exclusive Built Wild vehicles, the 2022 Ford Bronco offers thrilling off-road experiences with heritage-inspired style, rugged engineering and smart off-road technology. The formula and product are hitting the mark with customers, with Bronco turning on dealer lots in just seven days on average.

Reinventing the modern compact pickup for truck customers who never knew they needed a truck, the all-new and affordable Ford Maverick is the first standard full-hybrid pickup in America and the most fuel-efficient truck on the market with an EPA-estimated rating of 42 mpg in the city*. Its compact size makes it easy to maneuver and park, there’s room for five adults and plenty of storage, with payload and towing capability to accommodate a huge range of needs. Maverick is turning on dealer lots in just four days on average.

Both Bronco and Maverick are designed to enable the adventures and needs of their owners, from scaling trails to helping a friend move a couch. These new vehicles are just what customers have asked for and that’s reaffirmed by the honors each has earned to date:

Saw my first one in the wild the other day. Not bad. It was in the Area 51 color which I'm not sure is my bag but I can see how it would appeal.

What's weird is that the Area 51 color looks good on the Bronco but super meh on the Maverick!

That's why we went Oxford White. No one ever went wrong by buying a white truck.

My dealer has an orange hybrid Lariat coming in. I'm tempted to put a deposit on it but I really want to at least drive one first. Not sure how I feel about the orange on the Maverick. I love it on the Mustang.

Yeah IDK about the Cyber Orange either. Especially paired with the brown and blue interior of the Lariat. Who knows though it might look great in person.

Isn't the deposit refundable? That way you can test drive it first and if you pass on it you can get your money back.
IMO it would make more sense for the dealer to do it this way because even if you pass the next guy is going to snatch it up so it's not like the dealer will have it for long. I think the average dealer lot time for the Maverick is just four days.....

Seems like Ford may have *slightly* underestimated the market for a cheap old style light truck size 4 door vehicle with a small bed that doesn't possess the fuel economy of a WW1 battleship.

Ford Shuts Off Orders for New $20,000 Maverick Pickup

https://www.wsj.com/articles/ford-shuts-off-orders-for-new-20-000-maverick-pickup-11643033093

Ford F -3.00% Motor Co. is taking the unusual step of cutting off customer orders for the Maverick, a more affordable pickup that it rolled out last fall, saying it has maxed out on what it can build.

The move is a sign that American shoppers are hungry for more-affordable options as prices for new cars and trucks hit new records and availability remains constrained on dealership lots.

Ford told dealers Monday that it is suspending customer orders for the Maverick pickup truck because it is already straining to fill a backlog. The company will resume taking orders for the 2023 Maverick in the summer, it said in a memo to dealers, reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.
“We didn’t want to take more orders than we could build,” said Dean Stoneley, general manager of Ford trucks, in an interview. “We’re getting customers who would have perhaps bought a used car and are now buying the Maverick because it is so affordable.”

Looks good for a base utility vehicle. Gardening and hauling compost/soil and other things would work ok.

My dad used to drive the 1995 and 1996 rangers for work. (Had one of each for a while). They had a known transmission bug that they both suffered from. The 95 was slightly nicer than the brand new 96 he got issued. We would drive those things on fire roads and off-road some....through flowing creek beds. The size makes them fun if you go 4wd. I picture this truck being something like that.

I still want something with more curb weight, brake controller, and a towing package if I'm investing in a truck. I need it for hauling a pontoon. I spent $16k for my 2009 F150 regular cab when it was like 4 years old with 20k miles. I think it finally turned 40k miles recently...hoping it lasts.

Very impressive that Ford quit making cars & their Bronco, F-150 EV, and Mavericks are all sold out lol

Area 51 is still my favorite color on the Maverick

So i take it back, apparently I'm getting the colors confused - the Area 51 looks GOOD on the Maverick, it was the Cactus Grey color that I wasn't a super-big fan of! My neighbor got an A51 & it looks pretty dang good!!

I'm curious to see if Tesla is going to be agile enough to keep up...geeks see the value of a software-driven hardware product, but muggles like things like creature comforts, different aesthetics, etc. tbh, test-driving the Mach-E really changed my mind about it. Per my previous review:

1. Not a fan of it being called a Mustang, but really, that's my only hangup with it lol

2. Tesla vehicles feel like they're designed by nerds (I mean that in a good way!)...powerful, spartan, OTA update-driven, etc. Although customer service is lagging horrible & they're still having build-quality problems.

3. The Mach-E doesn't feel like an "electric car", like Tesla's do. It feels like Car 2.0, like the next-generation of a car: everything is simply "improved". It's the best EV I've ever driven...the design & ride is just fantastic!

You're right about giving the people what they want: the Maverick is super affordable by today's standards. The F-150 Lightning EV is incredibly practical (outside of the short-ish EV range). The Bronco is really a lot of fun & also hugely customizable. I'm honestly shocked at how well Ford is knocking it out of the park! I didn't think they'd get in the EV game for a few more years, let alone nail it!
