Everyone was hoping for an embarrassing mugshot with him looking like a fat, haggard, defeated old slob, but he got a picture that his supporters are going to think makes him look cool and dangerous. This mugshot is a huge boon to his campaign and it would have been better off to not release a mugshot at all. This criminal is going for the Winston Churchill glaring at the camera motif.
Most fucking criminals don’t have the advantage or time to have makeup applied and hair done by professionals while having a long, leisurely drive to the police station in a motorcaid. I wonder how much time he spent practicing his pose for the mugshot and made practice mug shots. How many people advised him on the decision. His face is looks asymmetrical. The right side appears sunken–caved in. I guess Melania has a good left roundhouse. He’s trying to look tough for those people that actually look up to him. It’s so hilarious. As far as I can tell the logic is ‘being arrested helps him because people who already would vote for him are going to vote for him harder’, which doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.Whatever man, there is nothing to "get". The above mug shot of the arrestee has the lighting arranged like a pro portrait photog would arrange it, typically angling in from the side and above in order to cast shadows that enhances the desired features and/or the desired mood the subject wishes to portray while also reducing any features that would detract from the attractiveness the subject deems necessary.
IMO, this shot was professionally set up to Trump's specifications of which may or may not have been taken at the jail and of which quite a number of them were taken at various angles that the pictured arrestee would pick from. Just my 2 cents worth from having taken my fair share of portraits and events over 3+ decades during those years of steady part timing it to keep up paying for all the newest gear needed for the job. So glad to have finally retired from that little rat race.

You’re just underestimating how huge of a liar he is and how brazen his lies are.
I don't see it as gaining or losing votes, but it's another step in solidifying his base. As more and more charges are levied against Trump it becomes easy to muddy the trail and call it a witch hunt, something Trump has been shouting for a while now.
