Oh man. Driver has fractured spine, remained conscious, 2nd driver has back pain, Track Marshall banged up with cuts and scrapes, 1st photographer....I forget, okay though, concussion maybe, but the 2nd photographer has a lacerated liver. I can't believe everyone survived this.

Yes, but international (inter-galactic actually) treaties prevent me from saying ANYTHING....lest the time cops show up. And I DO NOT want to deal with that again.

I've been told that wearing crimson on a planet called "Tennessee" is a capital offense. Maybe someone timeshifted and escaped.

Question. Im at work so I cant verify. There was a Notice in Boinc a few days back about LHC stopping work for a while. Is it true? Or a subproject or something else?

The LHCb subproject has ceased operation indefinitely. A comeback of this subproject is possible but not planned for anytime soon.

The SixTrack subproject had a news item which sounds to me --- and server status looks to me --- as if there is now no SixTrack work available. If this is true, then only subprojects which require VirtualBox are left. (However, I may be mistaken by the looks of server status, and it could also be possible that SixTrack work is generated but downloaded as fast as the generator works.)

A very quick look into "top hosts" revealed that SixTrack tasks are still being newly generated:
https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome...0391087&offset=0&show_names=0&state=0&appid=1

Hence, 0 unsent sixtrack tasks in server status doesn't mean that there are never tasks available, it means that sixtrack tasks in higher demand than the work generator can satisfy. This sprint is going to bring back the typical Formula Boinc sprint feeling.*

Of course for those who have VirtualBox, there are Theory and Atlas tasks.

*) Frankly, with the WCG B'day challenge going on, I wouldn't have minded much if the MOD_PYTHON ERROR had made a comeback.

So, should I switch all rigs to LHC or just the linux ones with the native atlas app or...just go full WCG? What do we care more about?

There is a native Linux app for ATLAS?
app.php only lists the old vbox gunk for ATLAS (and for Theory), and only SixTrack as native.

Edit:
Found cryptic references to ATLAS native here:
https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=4758 "ATLAS native - Configure CVMFS to work with openhtc.io"
https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=4840 "Guide for building everything from sources to run native ATLAS on Debian 9..."
https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=4617 "ATLAS native Linux app"

ATLAS has offered a native Linux version for several months but here is an attempt to collect all the relevant information in an easy to find place.
Ha ha! Easy to find for LHC@home standards, true.

Edit 2:
I can't see an actual benefit from the native Linux application. True, you don't need VirtualBox with its out-of-mainline kernel modules. But the RAM requirements of the native application doesn't seem to be substantially lower (I haven't found the actual requirement stated clearly anywhere, only some conflicting claims). And you need to have FUSE kernel modules + CernVM-FS userspace filesystem, and the Singularity container system (i.e. instead of VMs, you get containers).

Instructions are here. I have it setup on mint 18.3.

The reason why its better is it doesn't use much (if any) ram. I'm able to run all 72 cores of one machine with a measly 64 GB ram.
