If it rains should be interesting. Get caught out with the wrong tire and all bets are off.

Dry yea its just going to be a practice cruise for Vettel.

Pretty much as predicted. Riccardo looked good, he may prove surprising next year.

F1 is now just a how to learn the German anthem lesson. sigh.

Yeah, it was like that 10 years ago too...

Much rather hear the Spanish national anthem or the Finnish national anthem or even God Save the Queen. Dare I hope for the Star-Spangled Banner during my lifetime?

I would love for their to finally be a proper U.S. driver (again?). Since it is a world title and the U.S. is one of the few countries that supports a race that doesn't have a driver in the championship, I think someone should be forced to take an American driver. If they need a volunteer I'll be happy to try my ham hands at it. How hard could it be?

Glad Vettel got away clean and owned it from the front. It was still an interesting race with the midfield shake ups going on. I can't wait for Singapore. One of my favorite races. It should suit the Red Bulls well since they are dominant in high downforce tracks. I think Lotus and Mercedes will be strong, Hamilton stole pole last year with McLaren and with Mercedes dominant qualifying pace, I bet he will be a threat this year.

I hope all the rumors about Alonso leaving F1 for a year or switching team aren't true. He is a great driver and deserves his Ferrari drive, its too bad Ferrari hasn't been as dominant as they would like to be.

Seems like it wasn't as boring then, though.

Did Schumacher just lead and run away most of the time? It seems like many of his wins might have required more work.

Alexander Rossi is currently the only American to hold an FIA super license. He's a test driver for Caterham F1. I believe Road & Track did a cover/article on him recently. I'd like to see him get a seat.

it was 50/50 for schumacher. much of his success was down to a reliability advantage as much as speed. although the pack has never been tighter than it is now, the schumacher/ferrari era saw more fighting at the front (which in the refueling era lasted only until the 1st pit stops) and less clinching the title halfway through the season.

although the end result is pretty much the same, schumacher/ferrari did it with more variation. vettel/red bull's technique is to simply walk/run away like they're the only car on the track - it might be what every racer dreams of, but it doesn't get more entertaining with repetition.

If you can get more than 1 second in front, you have big advantage in that DRS cannot be used to catch you.

So Massa out of Ferrari ..and into a Lotus? If Kimi leaves Massa might be an affordable, experienced test driver, and without Luca breathing down his neck, maybe he finds some mojo.

This also opens up Massa's seat. A place for Kimi? Or the Hülk? Maybe Bianchi? (Though Ferrari rarely scouts fresh talent - they are probably the most conservative team when it comes to driver choices, of all time)

I find it hard to believe that even Force India has sufficient financial liberty to take on Massa, never mind Williams or Sauber.

Also, no reason to expect line up changes at Merc or McLaren.
Lotus is currently the only team that has promise to be a 2014 challenger, where both seats are more open than taken.

He won 13 out of 18 races in 2004... I think that was his best season. He always did seem to be able to get the best out of the car and put in qualifying pace laps when he needed to make up for a poor race strategy.

So Massa just instagram'd that he's out at Ferrari. While I love the guy and remember being so upset in 2008, I understand how he's not been living up to expectations.

Kimi Raikkonen To Join Ferrari For 2014 F1 Season!!!

http://www.forbes.com/sites/chrissmith/2013/09/10/kimi-raikkonen-to-join-ferrari-for-2014-f1-season/

Rumors have long been swirling that Finnish driver Kimi Raikkonen would be returning to Ferrari, where he had previously spent three seasons. The BBC’s Andrew Benson has reported that the Finn finally signed a contract with the team on Monday, and team officials are expected to formally announce the move this week. Details of the contract have yet to be released.

Another source.

Alonso posted about Kimi yesterday on Facebook, guess he spilled the beans a little early

It's too bad really, Ferrari will have 2 great drivers and probably still have a #2 or #3 car. Bummer for those dudes -- still an upgrade for Kimi though. But next season's shaping up to be amazing. Hopefully Newey didn't hit the same home run and RB doesn't win by 10-30 seconds every race.

I doubt they can change the laws of fluid dynamics so as long as Adrian Newey still has an interest in designing F1 cars I think he'll be successful at it.

I don't deny that, just hoping the last few years and the new rules will allow Ross Brawn, Rory Byrne and some of the others to catch up a bit

kimi joining ferrari will probably give them the constructors' title, which they care nothing for. until someone can beat newey with some consistency, they might as well hire me to drive.

hamilton has said his best chance is if renault produces a dog of an engine to power the red bulls - highly unlikely.

Thing is, the last time Ferrari won the WDC in 2007 and the WCC in 2007 and 2008, they had no definitive #1 and #2. The only thing I hope for is that RBR's insane packaging can't be done with the new turbo engines in regards to cooling. Again, I say hope, but I'm sure they'll come up with something to overcome that hurdle. I'm excited seeing Rory coming back to Ferrari next year and James Allison is ready to go at Ferrari now.

edit: I'm sick of pretending Vettel doesn't exist to make F1 exciting

Just read the reports on all the tributes to Massa, as delivered by Alonso and Domenicali.

And it really made me realize, that Massa is the sport's most tragic figure in a long, long time.

He starts out as a young, promising talent, gets an early seat with Ferrari, and then loses out on the championship by half a point.
Next year, that terrible accident, which in an earlier era may well have killed him.
Then he becomes number 2, and despite giving his all to the team, time and time again, he still can't even get Alonso to win a championship, for whom he sacrificed so much.
Then there's that season where he continues to literally clash with Hamilton, which will hopefully remain the low point of his career.
And now there he is, for the moment without a drive in 2014, without a win in years, and beyond his prime.

I really hope he finds himself a team, where he can race again, and race for the win or at least position, as opposed to serve as a backup to a team mate, that in the end can't get the job done.

I wonder how nice Kimi, Alonso, and Ferrari will play. I know Kimi played a good #2 to Massa in 2008 when Kimi realized he wouldn't win the championship and Massa had a good chance. I just hope they are allowed to race equally until its impossible for one of them to win the title.

Now this is going to be interesting. Alonso is certainly not happy with the decision. I firmly believe Alonso is the best driver in the sport but for him to have some real competition will be interesting.

He hasn't really had the form the last couple years. He has had a couple flashes of brilliance here and there but for the most part he has been soundly beaten by his teammate Alonso.

As for the most tragic figure? I don't know... a couple others come to mind.

Rubens Barrichello?
Eddie Irvine?
Mark Webber?
Michael Andretti?
Alex Zanardi?
Giancarlo Fisichella?
Heikki Kovaleinen?

Or how about Robert Kubica?
