GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD
Well done ALL !!!
After two or so grueling weeks of racing we get a couple to refresh and give the electric meter a rest.
Congrats to the TeAm !

Next year may not be so fun. Two scenarios:
  1. We make it to 3rd place in the league and then we get moved to league one, where the competition is brutal.
  2. We only make it to 4th place, stay in league 2, but lose our buddies at OcUK and OCN, who move to league one. We will have to find new sparing partners.

I decided to add Stop@home to my boxes in case it gets selected for a Sprint this year, got a few tasks per machine. Something to keep in mind for this project is that it likes memory, as much as 680MB per task, but an average of 430MB.

I don't see stop on any list on formula BOINC. It's not on the list as selectable for a sprint.

I'm running SRBase, though, both for potential marathon points and in case it's a sprint project later.

I'm wondering where to turn our attention to at this point. I'd been analyzing some of the Marathons for either opportunities to overtake or the need to defend our spot, but all my tabs got lost in a crash due to an overzealous OC attempt.

About 10,000 points per task, each task takes 8 to 15 days. Computing errors get points too (half), as long as they crunch until the end. It has been a YEAR since I ran this project, and I STILL have 67 (out of 81 tasks) that are pending, lol.

So, NO?

Is this a high scoring project? because USAF is 624,393 points ahead of us right now. Ars seems to be on our heels, though.
We weren't that far apart when I stated that. But it is still true.
Climate is a very high paying project from my experience. I get better than four times most projects that give (CreditNew) less than 1% of seconds for points. Nothing like CSGrid but still high paying.

Select only "Weather At Home 2" WUs. They give like Tony says ~10,000 points but they finish in 2.5 days. If 12 people do 2 single threaded WUs per month (240,000 points) by the end of the year we would gain 2 positions and have 6 more points. What percent of your power is 5 days on 1 core per month?
Getting a couple WUs per month might be a problem.
I had one or two WUs take up to a few weeks to validate. (Not sure what's up with Tony's pending?)

How are you finding my advice about CSGrid being good paying?

Ken's idea on SRBase and Yafu is very good too.

Yikes! Just noticed the "Deadline" on the Climate WU ... 5-12-2018 That's almost a year. If Tony's 700,000 points come through this year we will be ahead two positions.

Thanks for the advice on Climate! I'm not certain about my power consumption figures, I do need to get a Kill-A-Watt and start figuring out what my efficiencies are, but honestly it's as much as I can manage to remember which machines are where, and what they are doing at any given moment! CSGrid seems like a good project. I'm still trying to get a feel for resource allocation. Mostly I look over our position in the Marathons and pick something that I think I help the TeAm with.

Oops, "power" was maybe the wrong word, I meant more like "core count". Or core hours per month. I am back to three 8 core (HT) computers. Or 24 cores. Core hours per month would be 24 cores times 24 hours times 30 days equals 17,280 chpm. Two WUs that take 2.5 days each would be 120 core hours or 0.7% (less than one percent of my monthly computing power!)
Well anyway the idea was a little bit from several would move us ahead. Like Tony said it is hard for one person to get enough WUs, but several might get enough to make a difference. They just don't have WUs available often enough it seems.

Right now I have 42 cores or 78 threads (couple non HT CPUs in there) but threads are always allocated to GPU projects, so maybe 65 threads or so are available for CPU projects. Earlier today I tried to get some Climate work but couldn't...

Edit: But now there is some, so there...

I was looking at the list of marathon projects today, and I was surprised to see a couple that use hardware sensors. Has anybody looked at trying Quake Catcher Network? They say the sensors on a tablet or smartphone will work. I'd set it up on my tablet, but it refuses to install BOINC, although it used to be there.

You already got those points It says you have WUs pending, but if you look you got credit for them. High paying credit - up to four times what you are getting for VGTU and TN-Grid and all those other CreditNew (0.0075%) projects!
