Next year may not be so fun. Two scenarios:
  1. We make it to 3rd place in the league and then we get moved to league one, where the competition is brutal.
  2. We only make it to 4th place, stay in league 2, but lose our buddies at OcUK and OCN, who move to league one. We will have to find new sparing partners.
I think I remember seeing something about the top three teams moving up and the bottom three moving down, but now I can't find it. Just "The distribution of teams depends on the number of active members (RAC>100) on each project." Where was that?

Well............It's gone. Vanished. It used to be on the home page. RECENTLY.

Next Sprint: 06/09/2017 04:00 (UTC) - 06/12/2017 03:59 (UTC)
So BUNKERING, for those in the Continental US (and Canada if using a similar time-zone system), starts Wednesday Evening, 9pm for you West Coasters, 10pm for the Mountain folk, 11pm for the Mississippi River rats, and midnight for the 13 colonies?

That is as much of a question as it is a statement.....need some double checking on that. Pretty sure about the times, just not so sure about the DAY. But....gets announced the day before (so 6/08), but they are going to be a day ahead too for my zone.....so, 6/07, Wednesday for N. America?

That's for sure! I haven't done SETI in years! Anyone know if there's an optimized client for 64-bit Linux?

So, is the Seti CPU client inefficient? I will Google some app_config examples for best GPU use, unless someone wants to post some, perhaps elsewhere?

The funny thing is I'm not sure if client efficiency matters for this race. Since I think the credit system counts time, not results, does it matter if we upgrade our clients?

I debated whether to jump in here or not, mainly because I am not an expert by any means. That being said:

If someone wants to run seti for a fairly short time I recommend running the stock app downloaded from web site. It is basically the same as the Lunatics optimized app now.

Also, I do not recommend modifying the App_info.xml file mainly because there are so many entries to change, but rather create an app_config.xml file and insert it into the “setathome.berkley.edu” directory to dictate cpu usage and gpu work.

Because of the number of different combinations of hardware it is almost impossible to give an example of an app_config.xml file that is right for everyone. The number crunching forum on the seti web site is a good source for info and help.

I inserted an app_config.xml file into some machines with HD 7970's and it worked great. But machines with GTX 1060's did not like the same app_config, so in those, I renamed app_config.xml to app_config.old and restarted the app, yet the settings remained. So then I deleted the file and restarted the app, yet the settings still remained. So finally I inserted an app_config with as close to what I remember the auto generated parameters to have been, and it's better but it was puzzling to me to have this happen, as other apps do not behave this way.

I mostly have rigs with two GTX 970s, and I elected to go the SOG route, and my app_config.xml file looks like this if it is any help:

<app_config>
<app>
<name>astropulse_v7</name>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>1</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>1</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>

<app>
<name>setiathome_v8</name>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>.50</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>.04</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>

<app_version>
<app_name>setiathome_v8</app_name>
<plan_class>opencl_nvidia_SoG</plan_class>
<avg_ncpus>1.0</avg_ncpus>
<ngpus>0.5</ngpus>
</app_version>
</app_config>

Yes I assign 1 cpu to each work unit. Might be overkill but CPUs don’t do much and it is important to keep the GPUs going strong.

Also I do not overclock. Overclocking tends to cause corrupted WUs.

PS: I also use the same app_config.xml for my one GTX 1070 rig
and
No app_config at all on my rig with two R9 290s

I seem to be getting really good utilization on my AMD GPUs without too much extra work aside from adding the project in BOINC and adding a modded app_config. What does the Lunatics app offer, exactly?

Quad tasks on a 1080 gets utilization up into the 90s, but using only about 50% of the 'power' according to Afterburner.

Only takes 2 tasks to get the 280X to 98-99%, 'power' reporting not available.

One hour down, and we have hopefully set the tone (now just have to keep others away from the equalizer controls). Double the points of 2nd place. I know this means very little at this point, but a good start is a good start.

Hour 2, and staying up till 1am yesterday to get my machines all changed over to SETI has clearly screwed up my sleep schedule.

We still hold number one, but the Brits are starting to awaken, and, what's this? EVGA wants to play this time! OCN on the other hand is.......up to no good, no doubt, at 10th place.

Our lead margin has changed from 103% to 72% (95k down to 67k points).

Gonna try to go back to sleep after my 'short' nap earlier.

EVGA thread.

I have always seen boinc-client behave this way: If you merely remove or comment-out items from any of the config files and re-read configs, then boinc-client retains its current parameter values --- i.e. it does not revert to default values.
