I apologize for slow loading on the flights this morning. Our IT staff has been doing some things which I think resulted in this. Looks like things are back up and going thankfully. If I hear any more I'll let you know.

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate.
So before I turn into a football zombie and then pass into a tryptophan induced coma, here are some pre sprint stats.

As far as I can tell, today it's even worse than yesterday.

Edit, OK, it's the first hour of the race, so what did I expect.

I've got work; I'm just having trouble reporting my results.

Looks like we have a new TeAm member. Hopefully the announcement of @pandemonium joining the TeAm won't cause pandemonium.

I'm running out of tasks and heat too. I'm having to add in a few tasks from TN-Grid on some machines (soooooo close to the next milestone there), and the three 1070's are folding.

The door to the un-insulated garage is closed, the bathroom window is closed, and the temps are still a bit less than I'd like inside my abode.

Found all the tasks.............................OcUK dropped a bomb.
Me on the other hand have gotten 8 tasks, 7 running and 2 sitting on "downloading" for the last hour. (setting BOINC to "store" 2 days of work- ummm not working LOL)
This is ridiculous for a sprint!

I might pursue some milestones myself, no use wasting power @ idle trying to download ghosts.................

Finally, after 5 hours my tiny pile of completed tasks (200, maybe?) has finished uploading. I'd have to seriously advise against any continued bunkering on this project.

If anybody wonders why OcUK was missing in WCG, this is the answer. I'm a bit devastated, tbh.
For a side note, this project really show the age of my laptop. It needs more than 2.5x time of my Athlon to complete single task.

I am asking myself what we are trying to accomplish here: Win a medal in volunteer science, or win a medal in a DDOS attack? At this point it's clear that the latter is necessary to accomplish the former.

I am going to stick with this sprint/attack. But I need to rethink my goals and standards for next year.

Similar to certain sprints before, this one goes entirely besides one of the main points of Formula Boinc (or DC contests in general), which is to draw attention to projects which could use more participation.

The only problem is that people at FB seems don't care the capability of each project in handling such traffic surge that always happen in every sprint. Funny thing is, CSG is a combination of a standalone projects that supposed to have more grunt for condition like FB sprint.

From what I understand, the current situation is only partly due to the sprint. It apparently fell into a period where they already had server problems. It is conceivable that a sprint like this could have been supported by the server at a luckier time of the year.

From what I see and the project I am getting (very few with lots of idle time) there is only 1 active project (Wildlife) maybe 2 (Wildlife Image Observations) the others according to the "Signature for BOINC projects page" are all retired?

I understand as StefanR5R says:

Maybe FB admins could give said projects a little notice in advance that they are going to get more activity than normal and prepare for an onslaught on their servers?

They should have talked with the admins of each potential sprint project already last year when they invented the sprint mode for 2017. I believe they didn't do this, because if they had done, then POGS for example would probably not have been a sprint project. (AFAIU, theSkyNet POGS is happy to keep afloat at a low computational volume until their funds improve.)

And of course they should talk with project admins in advance of each sprint. Maybe not every project couldn't really use this to prepare anything (stock up on tasks ready to send maybe), but project admins could at least tell Formula Boinc that now isn't a good time for a sprint (like CSG's current situation). Also, advance notice would be a courtesy to the projects' community contact persons which would then be better prepared to pacify negative user reactions in their message boards.

But all I know is that the Formula Boinc folk never talks with project admins.
