UPDATED CPU fan was mistakenly turned up to a faster speed when doing swap out. HAve a YS-Tech Variable speed fan and the 'dial' had been turned almost 3/4 of the way up. Dialed it down back to 1/2 and much quieter. So it wasn't the PSU, just fan on CPU. False alarm.
I just bought the Fortron BlueStorm 500W PSU last week and installed over weekend. From the reviews I have read, it seemed the fan noise was based on power output. Not sure if it is a bad one or not, but when I power it up, the fan noise is a 'whining' noise and is constant. It wasn't fluctuating when I played games or just browse the Internet.
I'm not sure if anyone else has this same problem. I thought it would only be this loud if I was putting a full load on it or not. I may have to install a new fan in the PSU if it is going to be this loud.
The reason for getting PSU was to prepare for upgrade later this year or early next. I had seen it got good reviews and other people seemed to recommend it. Probably should have gone with Seasonic. Might just eat the cost to return it and get a Seasonic. Any ideas or suggestions?
Specs:
MSI K8N Platinum
AMD 64 3200+ OC to 2.4
1GB Corsair XMS RAM
ATI 9800 Pro
SoundBlaster Live 2 ZS
2 WD 120GB Hard drives
1 Liteon DVD Reader
1 NEC 3520(i think) DVD writer
