Can't even keep it working for a full day anymore. Does anyone even read the forum issues and feedback?

How in the hell can a major website go all day, day after day with no response time, and stay in business ? Future needs to realize how bad this is, and they are losing customers every day ! This is beyond unacceptable.

But, for the most part, we're not customers...however, why buy a major tech site and associated forums...then let ir run like a 50 cent per month GoDaddy site?

Every click of your mouse, and in fact every post here complaining gives money to Future. So we are customers that pay them to use their site. Its not cash, its advertising money.

I don't see this as a 'major' anything. Pretty low end really. How many unique ID do we see posting here on a daily basis? 20? 30? 100? I don't even know what's beyond the forum, if anything. I see people saying parts of it (reviews, stories) haven't change in years.

So the patient is dead. Only thing keeping it breathing is this life support thing.

Pull the plug? Have a monster thread in OT where we plan migration to one of the other sites?

Exodus is the proper term, just no Moses.

So it's not a hosting problem? Found forum is hosted by Vultr (vultr.com) using geoip

C:\Windows\System32>ping forums.anandtech.com

Pinging forums.anandtech.com [45.32.83.182] with 32 bytes of data:

Ping time is very good, but webpage element loading time is just horrible.

It's pretty discouraging. I want to pop on here for 20mins a couple times a day - and then it takes so long to bring up posts (never mind responding) that's it's almost not worth it.

I regularly use a number of other XF forums and none, not a one have had this problem for this long.
I doubt many XF forums are this big. This one has, what, >40 million posts in >2.5 million threads?

Edit: I just checked Ars Technica. They have a few more posts (maybe 1 million more), but fewer threads by about a million.

most of it is dormant no? I mean I can't see dormant threads taking up space in memory unless they decided to cache everything to memory.

Not impressed. 62 million posts over 1.1 million threads and 2 million members is only one of the boards I use. And a large number opf those threads have 10s of thousands of posts in just the last year or less. They get hundreds of new members weekly. Some members with less than 5 years time in have close to 100,000 posts.

Most of the threads I see here are quite old and current day-to-day traffic is minimal. People here with close to 100,000 posts have been here for 20 years.

I've noticed a lot of sites using more and more cloudflare captchas lately, especially any time I try to browse videocardz on my phone. Is there something happening on the internet in general? If videocardz is holding behind cloudflare captcha for mobile users, and with the AT forums lagging, I would assume there is some kind of spam bot-net being deployed against tech sites en-masse.

If this were some kind of forum software problem like we hit some kind of overflow with the number of concurrent users, posts, or threads, I doubt it'd be intermittent like it is.

Really feels like DDOS, but maybe its just Occam's razor? Some bad browser plugin could be making people refresh more than they should?
