With hundreds of tabs, it's all a blur.A side effect is that I open some other site and shift my focus away to doing something else coz the forum issue makes my brain think this is how fast internet works in general. Takes me a few moments to realize, no. I'm on some other site that is paying all their bills!

There aren't many independent forums left anymore. Reddit is still an option but eh, Reddit has killed so many forums already, and there's no telling what else they'll do to push revenue in the future.
Discord is a closed ecosystem that sells data to Tencent (and then lies about it).

I generally agree with you. The interface isn't nice and it constantly bugs you to use the app, and then 3rd party apps popular with mods etc. have to pay for API access and blahblahblah. It does serve the same basic functions as a forum, even if everything AT would be split into multiple subreddits and that would be funky.
