I had a cool idea, just though i would run it by you guys, might never get put into use, depends what Anand and/or the Moderators think about this.
What if there was a checkbox in your profile called "Show Distributed.Net Status" and if checked you had to enter your distributed.net ID, and in the forums, under where it says "Senior Member" or "Junior Member", etc it said "Elite Cracker for Team AnandTech" or "Junior Cracker for TA", or wwe could change the names of the levels, to be stuff like "Elite Assimilator", or "Herd Master" the level would go by how many blocks you have cracked, i would need help deciding where to put the milestones.
This wouldn't be too hard to implement into the current forum, I dont know if they would let me mess with the source code though, maybe I could get the evaluation version of this forum from fusetalk, set up a demo of my improvements on another server somewhere, and let the the moderators take a look at it, id let them have the source code for free, I dont have that much cracking power, so i wanted to give something else to Team AnandTech.
I could set up a simple script to run each night at like 3 am or so, to grab everyones totals, and update their respective level. You could even have thier cracking status linked to thier stats page.
I think this would make a lot of RC5 people happy, and even help recruit new members,
any body have thoughts to add to this?
also, if i do start setting up a test forum somewhere, do any of you guys feel like registering to that forum so i can test its ability to grab your stats and assign every user to a level?
