I love having a new forum upgrade. A lot of the established members bitch up a storm, talking about how crappy it is. Then everyone will get used to it, find out it's perfectly fine, and the cycle will continue in a couple of years with a new upgrade.

As for my complaints, like someone else said, there is no button to go to the last page in a long thread. Sure, you can do it within the forum view, but sometimes you go to these threads from your "My Forums" link. Also, when you are on another page, and you decide to rate the thread, it will reload you back to the first page. Sure, the last page button isn't overly important, as I set my posts per page view at 100, but some people keep them pretty low. Besides the fact that it does give you a button to go back to the first page instantly.

The old forum displayed visited links/topics with a different color. Why was that changed? I much prefer it that way.

any way to make the post icon closer to the text of the message?

and the funny thing is, i've been using the 'old' default theme for ages, i don't think you could even get it anymore, now it's finally gone.

Only an Admin can disable it, if he wishes.

Or realise whatever they're narked about won't get fixed and have to put up with it, as before.

Maybe the colour schemes are screwed. xtnight noted earlier that highlighted text was invisible cos it was the same colour as the background.

What does this even mean?
Are you impaired?

It looks fancy, bright colors, fancy icons, etc. But it was a more usable forum before the upgrade. Everything is big and chunky, I feel like I'm reading a letter written in crayon. It's a Fisher-Price forum now, not a technical one.

It appears the H tag still exists as it is still listed in the symbols help box.

Highlighted text appears as white text in my threads too.

Other than that I like the new look and feel of the forums!

right next to the Reply and Preview buttons on quick reply would be a great place to stick the post icon chooser.

*search* is much worse

doing a search on your username only brings up the topic's first page ... nevermind it is 30 pages long

what happened to 'last'

If you edit a message, the second line of text* gets shunted onto another line and overlaps the buttons. I'm using the Windows theme.

*i.e. "Message Created On..."

tab order on quick reply could be adjusted so that when you hit 'tab', it jumps to the Reply button, at which point you can hit spacebar to submit. right now it jumps to the AnandTech logo at the top of the page.

it doesn't show what threads you've visited. like in the old forum, when you went to a thread it showed up as a different color in the text of the topic...

was a nice feature for quickly seeing what new threads there are or ones you missed.

At "BEST" it?s a side grade

More of a downgrade IMO

Just like the Win2K to XP update, at least windows let you disable the preschool graphics

There's less usable information on the screen at once, and more useless fluffy graphics. It's a functional downgrade. Maybe you're a small minded fool who is easily amused by shiny objects, but I prefer functionality over form.

I think I heard your mommy jingling some keys, go play with them.

There seems to have been a regression on the thread subscription updates by PM. Under the old version, I would only receive one update, from the first new post after I last viewed the thread. Now, I receive a new update for every post, regardless. On threads like this one, this lack of functionality makes my PM box fill up really fast.

To match up with each color theme? Just a guess.

Could we at least get visited links to appear as a different color and have an alternating color scheme when viewing the topics list? Then I could at least view the forums without wanting to scratch my eyes out.

It doesn't matter which theme you use though, it should still display an alternate colour for threads you've previously read.

the old forums had them change color no matter what Theme you used and the colores matched up just fine, each theme has presets for what "viewed links" show up as

now we have nothing

Does the thread rating have any actual impact? Like if somebody gets enough zero rated threads, do they lose thread starting privilege?
