What does this even mean?
Are you impaired?

It looks fancy, bright colors, fancy icons, etc. But it was a more usable forum before the upgrade. Everything is big and chunky, I feel like I'm reading a letter written in crayon. It's a Fisher-Price forum now, not a technical one.
That has nothing to do with what Web 2.0 is but good job being a smart ass throughout the thread.
Whiny emo kids in OT and a visual style that 4 year old children love. What's not Web 2.0 about it?
Your making the java script kiddies upset that your mocking web-rounded corners, I mean web 2.0.
Error: Intellectual level of the thread is declining.

I'm still hoping that you guys get the new categories up today . Now THAT would be the biggest change I've seen since I've been here.

Yeah, can we drop the e-pen0r contest so Jason doesn't have to wade through nested quotes of argument?

Seconded, it was an easy way to find threads I'd read in OT again later.

Hell, if you guys are still working on this thing, and trying to get it polished, I wouldn't mind to see some kind of slightly thicker line divider between stickied posts and normally circulated posts. With the new look and icons, it's a little harder to differentiate between the two.

The icon for locked posts used to be clearer too.

if it hasn't been mentioned yet, need a LAST button in threads to take you to the last post. sucks to keep clicking through 30 pages of posts to get the the end.

Hiding the side menu bar causes everything to show up as it should. For longer posts, the Quick Reply box goes across the entire width of the window, but the "Search Topic" and "Topic Tools" buttons are still too far over, causing horizontal scrolling.

This is with the "Steel Red" theme on Firefox 2.0.0.4. Looks like the other themes aside from the "Default" theme also suffer from these results. It looks as expected with the "Default" theme selected.

Same for me, FF 2.0

Is there any way to reduce the size of the icons? (not the aviators). The light bulb, and all of the other icons are huge and it makes it look very clunky, I wish I could make them smaller.

My biggest issue is, there is no more of the "most popular threads" in MyForums.

I really enjoyed that. Will we see that back soon?

Hi Jason, generally a good upgrade but here are a few issues which I would really like to see addressed:

  1. The Side Bar: Categories are now below Buddies which means I have to scroll down every time I want to change categories. Also the new side bar seems to take up a lot more space for no apparent reason. This means that there is less room for the main content and means more scrolling. Also, even though there is more space the category names are still truncated. What would be really cool would be the ability to choose what exactly you want on the side bar and the order that you would like it in. Something that could be changed in the profile settings.
  2. Forum Navigation: Unlike the previous version, hyperlinks do not change color when visited. This makes it much harder to find threads that I have visited previously. Also there is no Last button to take you to the last page in a thread. Another thing still wasn't fixed from the previous versions is the nested quoting. Other forum software I have seen removes all the nested quotes and only quotes the last person in the chain. This would be great to have.
  3. General Forum Appearance: The new look is pretty neat but it would be nice if there were more color schemes to choose from, specifically one that resembled the previous theme. None of the new ones match Anandtech main theme as well as the old one. Also the new default theme is too "bright" with all the blue. The old theme's blue was much less noticeable.
Also another thing worth pointing out is there is a lot more wasted space than the previous version. For some reason all of the tables seem to take more space leaving less room for the main content. I'm sure you could cut down on their size without really hurting anything. Perhaps you could have a "lite" option with skinner menu bars, etc.

Here are some screenshots showing some of the issues with the new version and comparing it to the old version.

Quick reply works great now. Had issues before. However, i like to mouse scroll a lot by clicking in my middle wheel and dragging. It doesn't work anymore if you click on the white part of the screen which is a tad bit annoying.

Exactly what I was coming here to bitch about. Why in the name of fsck would they take such basic functionality away?

I thought that links changing color after you've clicked on them was browser based.

I just spent the last 10 minutes trying all of the different themes, and none of them display already visited links as a darker color like they should.

Fix it.

Man, talk about a lot of whining. It's just a forum. Sure, there are lots of things to work out, like different colour for visited threads, but these are things i'm sure they'll eventually get to. This is the most up to date Fusetalk. Although i think they should have beta like they did when they first introduced Fusetalk... but telling them to 'go back', well, it just isn't going to happen.

And the bright default color scheme is killing me. How do you change the color scheme?

Not sure if this has been anwered, whats with the thumbs up and down and sad faces appearing next to the dates of the post?

If you look over the first page some members have a thumbs down and some have a sad face next to the time and date of their post.

Just wondering why this is or how it got there.

Other then that. I like the new look, nice to change things up once in a while.

EDIT: I figured out why its happening. NM

I would like to first say congrats to the AT staff after a successful upgrade. I love it

Second off, I would like to say "Good call" on the self moderation (via Topic ratings) of Video and Forum Issues. That should help a lot!!

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, just as you are. When basic functionality is broken or missing, it needs fixing, hence why Jason created this thread. No-one is seriously imagining they're going to revert to the old version. Well if they are, they need help

Besides, we fear change :Q

ok another VERY annoying thing is that when useing the "Quick Reply" box to make a post in a thread that has more then one page, after you post and the page refreshes it takes you to PAGE 1, and not the last page of the thread where your post will actually be, it used to do this before and IIRC you broke and refixed it once before years ago

this is with the Linear Forum formatting
