Forum Upgrade Complete

Could we get a very dark theme? I am on dark grey right now and it is still bright. It would be nice if we could get a black background and very dark gray (or blue) for the bars between posts and the name column. Also would like to have a dark background on the side bar.

EDIT: I think it might be nice to reorder the categories on the homepage. Move up the more used ones, such as social and Merchandise above Auto and Consumer, etc.

EDIT2: I don't really care for the ratings, especially in the social categories. Would it be possible to either get rid of them all together in the social threads, or have an option to turn them off in our preferences?

The new icons on the thread list makes it heard to quickly notice was is sticky, locked, new, old, etc. Part of this is probably just because it is different.

The side bar wastes a lot of space on the right side. Would like to see either the category names stretched all the way to the right (instead of cutting them off) or make the side bar thinner.

This has probably already been asked, but i'm tired of digging through threads. How do I jump to the last page of a topic when I'm not in the main forum? This is annoying the hell out of me. Can only seem to jump 2 or 3 pages at a time. The button to go to the first page is there, but not the one to go to the last page.

It's kind of annoying how the categories window takes up more space, yet the names of the categories are cut off (and they are not going close to the end of the box).

:thumbsup: Something I noticed today on the redesigned "My Forums" page is a tab labeled "Your Latest Posts"; I can use it to find threads I've recently posted with my replies.

:light: One suggestion for improvement is to display the name of the 'author' of the threads. It would be easier to find a particular thread by author name rather than remembering who owns what thread title.

You can set up your profile to send you to the last page by default. For a thread whose OP you haven't read, it's a PITA, for for threads you are already into, it's the way to go. So, I've set that as default for me (i.e. not the original default). To do it:

Click Profile
Click the 2nd tab (personal preferences)
Select Descending

Not only is it a PITA to unsubscribe from a thread...

... you have to click Topic Tools
... click Subscribe to this topic (yeah, stupid because you already are subscribed)
... do a search on your topic title, find the title
... click the checkbox
... go to the bottom of the page and click the Unsubscribe button


At the moment this is broken. I just tried to unsubscribe from this thread (for some reason I'm getting more than one email reminder for this thread... i.e. it's clogging up my inbox with dozens of emails), and my Firefox 2.0.0.4 was unable to find the thread title. For instance, it found no topic with the word "forum" in it.

im not real fond of the side menu, and its cool that we can minimize it... i would keep it minimized 100% of the time but cant see if ive received any PM's

It seems like there's more use of javascript than should be necessary. The page numbers/next/previous don't work unless javascript is enabled.

A few of these have been posted already, but here's my vote:

Change forums.anandtech.com to look like the forum category sidebar. Categories should be small and unclickable, forum names should be prominent. Don't bury the forums

Put forum Categories above Buddies
Move page navigation to the right side, add "last page" button
Darker color scheme, more contrast
Change color of visited links

I'm not sure if this has been said yet, but it seems like the little blue button at the far right of posts in the category view does not work correctly. The tooltip that pops up after hovering over it shows that it should go to the last message. If you click on it, it will actually go to the top of the last page of a multi-page thread, but not to the last message.
