Forward router functions of router/cable modem to another router?

Hello, I have a Motorola SBG900 cable modem/router and an Asus RT-N16 flashed with Tomato. I would like to basically turn the SBG900 into only a cable modem and use the RT-N16 as the wireless access point/router.

I read to try turning off the NAT and disabling the firewall of the SBG900. I connected a cable from the SBG900 to the WAN port of the RT-N16; but could not get an internet connection when connected to the RT-N16. Can someone help me?

I am not familiar with the Motorola SBG90.

However turning Modem Router combo to a transparent Modem is not a matter of switching off this and that, there must be a Menu entry that does it at the core. Otherwise it is just a None functional Combo Router Not a stand alone modem.

just ask your isp to configure your sbc900 to bridge mode. comcast business took about 2 minutes to do that. all ip's pass straight through. i assume you have a leased modem - they will handle it for you.

Thanks for the responses guys. I actually own the modem and it doesn't have a bridge mode. I'm just going to get an SB6120 standalone modem and sell this.
