Ok so I have spent a few minutes test driving the choices available and I have yet to find one I like. All of them (to me) have the a$$ all over the place issue. I have worked on all adjustments I can think of with no help.

Any suggestions??

LMK as I would like to get started on that car as well.

Any limitations we should go with or just leave it as ANY american car??

Sounds good to me.

I think the following week though we should return to a single spec car.

Well then how about somebody step up to the plate and say "For the week of 5/7/08 we are racing X". No voting no ifs/ands just someone step up as Waldo did and pick it (granted this week is any RX-7/8 not a specific model but you get the idea I guess).

Perhaps we could all take turns picking something each week. For example:

Week of 4/30 - Waldo Picks
Week of 5/7 - OSJ Picks
Week of 5/14 - Ty picks
Week of 5/21 - Blortov picks

Etc, Etc

We could all work the upgrades/tunes but said person PICKS the class and Car (or group of cars like the heavyweights where there were only a few to choose from)

Thoughts??

As Spidey said, turn down the diffs and also soften the rear suspension in relation to the front. The softer the rear suspension the more grip you'll have but it will be less responsive in turns.

Thanks Waldo.

One thing I noticed that did improve things a fair bit was turning TCS on. I wanted to see what kind of a change that made and it made the car much more driveable for me.

I have adjusted the diffs and the suspension and it helped as well.

FYI this is on the 2004 RX-8.

Thanks

On cars where you try your best but can't control the rearend, I'll turn on TCS. This doesn't mean you can be full throttle all the time but it will help control it at the cost of being slower in the corners.

I like this idea.

Ok how about the following pick schedule??

Week of 5/7 - Waldo Picks
Week of 5/14 - Queasy Picks
Week of 5/21 - AJ picks
Week of 5/28 - CK picks
Week of 6/4 - Spidey picks
Week of 6/11 - Blortov picks
Week of 6/18 - Open3rdEye picks
Week of 6/25 - OSJ picks (last pick heavyweight/mini night)
Week of 7/2 - Ty picks (last pick R1 night)
Week of 7/9 - Blowfish picks (mini/muscle car night)

As we get other regulars (or they come back aka Guuts, Superjohnny) we can add them to the list. Of course if we lose someone than everyone moves up a week as well.

Thoughts???

Agreed ... we could also run different cars at different times in the night. Start with the Lotus, then drive the mini, then a heavyweight etc.

The Mustang would be the only issue for me as I tweaked it and upgraded it from when we drove it way back when but I still have all the other cars.

I would also like to revisit what CK suggested and that was about the additional TRACKS. I purchased them for myself and it would be cool to run Montegi & Road America but everyone isn't interested than I am fine with that myself considering these do have to be purchased.

I wouldn't mind revisiting some of the other cars we have made. I would like to improve on them some anyways.

So we're doing rotary this week, any S998 American next week, and then after that, we're going to have a rotating schedule, correct? If we go with your schedule, blowfish, I think we need to slide it back two weeks since this Wednesday is 4/30 and next week is 5/7. I'm all for rotating the pick around.

If we do the rotating pick, we're all going to work together on the upgrade/tune? Just throwing the idea out, too, that we all have a base car and can do whatever upgrades and tuning we want to it. That could be fun.

I don't think we are doing the S998 All American cars as it has been mentioned that we should go back to all racing the same car. Waldo made the executive decision on the rotaries for this week (4/30) and thus I thought the rotation could "start" with Waldo and this week.

Yes the "picker" just decides on the car -- example 5/7 pick is the A850 class Lingenfelter Corvette BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. We all work on the tune/upgrades together. The picker (if they want) can of course post upgrades and tuning but it is not required. All that's required from the "picker" is the car and the class level - perhaps someone wants to drop back down to running C-Class cars then that's what we run.

Also I think this allows people to race in a car they like vs just going with the flow.

I think if we can kinda go with the Rotation it will take out some of the guess work we have at the moment and guys can be deciding way in advance what to run.

I also don't think that it needs to be a specific car -- it can be a certain group of cars. I think we need to be aware that going with something like any S998 All American car may be a little too broad but hey I am open to whatever you guys want to do as I sure as hell don't want to sound like a dictator here saying what we can and cannot do. Just thought it would be helpful to get a plan vs the pick by the seat of our pants thing (which is still ok too). Afterall this is for pure fun and enjoyment and I don't folks to feel like this is work/job.

So lets chat about it and decide what everyone wants and go from there.

S998 - American made cars only? Meaning you goto garage > Buy Cars > Anything under USA is good to go?

I agree with OSJ. The RX7 was an executive decision out of what you guys had already decided on. I want my own pick! WAAH!

I like the idea of a rotation though. I will gladly make the cars and post setups if I get time. Then we can all pitch in and say our likes/dislikes. Or if someone wants me to not post a setup then that can be arranged as well. I like the fact that everyone has different cars each week but are very close in speed/handling. Each car seems to have strengths/weaknesses that can be exploited to win a race. Thats not to say I don't enjoy the "stock-car" like aspect of racing only my Mustang or Eagle Talon. I can certainly go back to those days as well.

Waldo,

I am happy to bump it a week, no worries!!

Hey I used that Talon the other week to run the C class championship and the C Class Endurance race. I was proud to use it!! Hell I use my Mugen Integra all the time (love that car) and I am still diggin' the mini we did a few weeks ago.

I do like the idea of going back to old car choices we have done. How about each week we do a nostalgia race and we go with a car from a previous race night for 1 race only?

Yeah, I used the Talon to get my million. I had joined it as an A class race but they changed it and I didn't have a C class ready to go so I just went with the Talon and ended up winning.

So Waldo is picking for next week rather than all American?

Well what does everyone want to do?? I thought you guys wanted to go back to all the same car ... I don't care either way we just need another executive decision LOL

OK, so I'm running a 1997 RX-7 with an engine swap and associated race platform settings and some engine help along with tire/grip.

How Waldo is hitting 200+ on the atlanta straight is beyond me and still keeping it A850. Any insight is welcome because I want to be competitive car wise.

You busted me on my sarcasm last week, but I played it off. There is no way to hit 200+ on the Road Atlanta back straight in these cars that I know of unless you go ALLLLL motor and then you might come close.

I'd like to apologize ahead of time because I'll probably show up with little-to-no practice this week. I was back in PA all weekend with my fiancee for pre-wedding meetings and now GTA4 will take priority tonight. I'll still be racing come 9:15 tomorrow night, though.
