Cat and mouse is hilarious. It's well worth the time spent doing it in my opinion. No matter how much you strategize or work together, it seems to come down to just dumb luck as to who's going to be last mouse standing. It's great.

Yeah definitely fun and very addictive game eventhough I suck. Everyone was cool eventhough I got in their way. The customizing / tunning is really cool. BTW thanks for helping me to my first win, cat and mouse is really fun and that was a quick 10k points. I can now buy a chevy Cobalt and hopefully it'll be suped up for next week.

Actually, thinking about it, I bet the Cobalt could be a decent car for next week. I think I've seen plenty of A850 setups and pushing it just a little further to S998 wouldn't be too much of a stretch. It should be easier to drive than the RX-8 was, as well. I'd just put on as many handling and platform and tire upgrades as you can before even thinking about power upgrades. The Cobalt starts low enough where you'll have room for plenty of power upgrades even after doing handling upgrades, I'd imagine.

Edit: There's also nothing that says you have to run S998 next week, either. B, A, and S class may be tricky if you're just starting out. I'd be happy to run a few laps with you this week if you want. There's also normally at least one night per week where a group of us practices together.

Agreed!

For some reason you and I just kept kickin' the crap out of one another LOL!

I will say this CK has the best technique in C&M -- he is VERY GOOD at pinning you against the wall and keeping you there. Me I am more into knocking people silly and sending them flying in the air.

My apologies to everyone for being out of control last night. The RX was just not a good car for me.

Lastly can someone send me pics of Blortov & CK's cars from a Replay. I am 99% sure I have the rest and will get them posted tonight for the paint job poll.

Thanks!

Jedi,

The Cobalt is actually not a bad car at all and with all the options fairly maxed out it should drive well. I would also look into any AWD car as they are very easy to handle even at the faster speeds.

OSJ and others .... what's the overall consensus for next week as to what's the better group of cars for overall abilities (handling and accel) -- Vipers, Vettes, Saleens?? Any thoughts from you experts?

Hooray for newcomers! Sorry I missed some initiations this week. Looking good for next week although plans change constantly.

So to clarify for next week-

American - S class correct?

Sorry I missed it this week guys. By the time I got everything settled it was already well after 10PM.

If someone else wants to run the paint job poll this week, go right ahead. I should be able to make it for next week.

Not sure on this one. The 2002 and 2006 Vettes could be good, I think. I tested both extensively for A850 night several weeks ago. The 2002 wasn't as fast but handled better. The 2006 was pretty fast but was a little tough to tame. The Lingenfelter (and possibly the Guldstrand as well) would be more of the same. Either the 02 or 06 could probably be made into nice S998 rides. Not sure about any of the others at this point. I've got some testing to do this week.

Hmm maybe worth a look see. The only downside to the Eagle would be speed I would think. It probably would handle like a champ though.

OSJ - thanks for the input. It seems I need to spend a bunch of time looking over all the choices. I may just take the Mustang we ran my first night out and bump it up to S-Class. I am pretty familiar with it and while it doesn't handle GREAT it is a doable car (plus I already have it repainted with a nice paint job ).

I was also thinking about a Saleen -- anyone know much about them??

Greg

***EDIT: And yes to confirm what Waldo posted Wed 5/7/08 will be ANY American car up to S998. Pick out what you want here fellas, its all up to you.

The replay on either the second race, sunset (or whatever one uses part of nissan speedway) I think it was was wild. However i think I caused it. We were all approaching the first turn trying to get position and i make a really nice move inside shooting inside of everybody. Too bad I took it a little too fast and lost a little bit of traction, carrying wide which was enough to get bumped.

Then on the next turn people on cold tires trying to go through the chicane at full throttle = lots-o-smoke.

My move of the night was without a doubt off the line at Sebring. Starting 6th (I think Blortov had gone by this point), I managed to sneak up to 1st by the end of the first turn. That little RX-7 is a rocket off the line and was able to stay glued to the inside of the corner while everyone else went wide. Makes me wish I'd run it instead of the F430 for A850 week since it's faster and easier to drive.

OSJ,

Can you post the upgrades and tune you gave the RX you were driving?? I want to see what I missed out on by not going with the same as you and I think Blortov. You guys seemed to do well with that INGS RX last night.

Thanks

I remember that, nice line.

I really like the way my car drove, even after the last minute tune without testing. There's a few nusances that could be worked out (lift throttle oversteer) and it would be a heck of a car.

Yeah, I can post it when I get home. Blortov was running the same car but I don't know what he did to his. Mine was very quick, though. Not very hard to drive, either. I did change the tune on the fly, though, depending on the track. When we ran New York, I took off a lot of downforce and lengthened up the gear ratios. Same for Sebring but not quite to the same extent. NY was on the order of 100+ pounds front and back but Sebring probably wasn't more than 25 or so.

I barely had time to practice for last night, I just threw everything in the calculator and used that tune. I dont remember off the top of my head which mods I put on, but I think my stats were close to the following, I'll double check when I get home (probably not till 11pm PST):

speed: 5.7
acceleration: 6.0
handling: 5.1
braking: 5.0

Thanks for that OSJ. I'm gonna mess around with that later this w/e.

Waldo -- you have first pick for the week of 5/14 --- Any thoughts on this??

I already bought my car for next week and am all set. Need to run some more practice laps but I am good to go ... unfortunately I will need to excuse myself from the paint job poll for next week as the car I bought was prepainted and I just don't feel like changing it (it's a damn fine paint job this guy did).

Yeah, definitely let me know what you think of the car. It suits my style well, I think, and was a blast to drive. This week was one of my favorite weeks, I think.

I think A class runs it about 1:31 or 1:32. A completely shooting from the hip estimate would be mid to upper 1:20s. That's with no solid data to back it up so that may be completely wrong. I'm going to try to run some laps tonight so I can provide a better guess as to what expected times might be.

If you want to practice some, just message me.

That's probably not to far off OSJ. Mini week I was routinely running MV at 1:30 - 1:31 and I am not that good of a driver (as we all know). That was a good week for me as I was really in synch with the Mini for some reason.

Anyway I would think and S-Class would be a decent amount better than the A850 Mini.

I am really looking forward to the S-Class week. While the cars a little faster than our standard A850 class races I think the handling is much better. With just a little practice so far I am very pleased with racing at this level. It's not too out of control but has plenty of "wow" speed. This is one of the reasons I liked the R4s a few weeks ago to as they were just on the edge of out of control for me but not completely over.

I have some more upgrading and tweaking to do but I am really looking forward to Wed -- hope everyone can make it.

1:30-1:35 is to be expected with non-leaderboard cars and high 1:20s for leaderboard cars. Looks like none of us have posted an S class time in an American car. The fastest currently out of my friend's list is ajskydiver @ 01:29.331 and that is in an Enzo.

I wouldn't get too hung up on trying to run a competitive time just yet, I don't think. The key to being fast is being consistent more than anything. If you can learn the tracks (which just takes time and repetition) and do the same things lap in and lap out, you'll be doing well. Speed comes with time. My advice would be to work on staying on the track and just being smooth.

Edit: I think A850 is probably my favorite class to race. There's a good bit of variety in what's available, the cars are pretty quick and handle well, while retaining some of the character and personality that I really felt was missing in the R1 cars.
