Yeah all the insanity on that track gave me a nice lead for all of about a lap I think. Then Arby showed up in that beast the Buick Regal and basically stomped a mudhole in my a$$. Damn that thing was fast!!

I still need to watch some of the replays I have, particularly C&M #1. There was an awesome moment when someone slammed into Queasy and sent him airborne. I was right behind him at the time and his literally flew right over the top of mine (scraped my roof a little). It was a crazy but cool moment that you might only see in a movie. I'll try to get some pics from the replay tonight (hopefully it looks as cool as it felt last night, LOL)

I enjoyed S-Class night as I really liked my car. I place 3-5 for most of the night which I will happily take as I am still in the learning phase.

C-Class should be interesting next week. We will definitely need to tone down the # of laps as 6 laps in a C-Class car will take forever.

BTW with Waldo being late each week now we need to be sure someone is prepared to host. I know we had a few glitches last night so I am not sure if any of the issues were on my end or elsewhere.

Thanks again for the racing fellas.

Hmmm ... we are race geeks here so I am not so sure we understand what you mean

No worries Ty, perhaps next week.

BTW does anyone know if there is somewhere on the web that lists which race(s) need to be won to unlock certain cars or what level racer you need to be to unlock certain cars??

Correct you are sir.
Sounds good. This could be interesting. I have no clue about that car.

I owned one in real life. It handled like a dream. If they modeled it after the real car there should be virtually no understeer. I forget what honda called it, but it was some kind of torque converter where more power would be sent to the INSIDE wheel when turning. I had a really hard time getting it to understeer as when you added some throttle the nose would actually turn in. I loved that car.

-edit-
wasn't a SiR I had, it was a SH. The SH had the torque system which could have been nothing more than a fancy diff. Whatever it was it worked.

Link. Another link.

You can also do this in game by trying to buy a locked car. A message box will pop up telling you what you need to do to unlock it.

On tuning as I did some stuff right before the race. The calculator seems to spit out a car that doesn't turn in as well as I want and with too much oversteer. Almost uncontrollable for me. So here's what I did and it resulted in much better steering response and controllable oversteer.

Decrease front camber (less negative)
This car really liked +.1 front and rear toe
Increase caster - 5.6 or 5.8 (really helps with turn-in but you have to match it with well with F camber)
Soften front ARB
Use 70/30 or 70/25 accell/decel differential - the diffs make the most difference IMHO on how the car balances/transfers power.
Add a little more bump front and rear

Simply show up at 9PM EST on Wednesday nights with the agreed upon car. Let us know if you're coming and someone will send you an invite.

Are we running with a specific C-class car for next week or just any C-class car? My weekend isn't as busy coming up so I may try to go ahead and get all my tuning/painting done then.

And make sure to take spidey out on the first turm. It seems like some unwritten rule.

Next week's car for 5/14: 2000 Honda Prelude SiR - C550 Note: The drivetrain CANNOT be changed. It MUST remain a FWD vehicle

Per Waldo.

Queasy you have the next pick for the week of 5/21/08.

Alright, just bought the 2000 SiR. I owned this car for 5 years. I don't know why it's called the SiR. That is a type SH. A look at the power and curve will tell me if it's the motor I'm used to.

You guys are in serious trouble if it drives anywhere near remotely resembling real life. Damn I miss that car. I know exactly what it needs.

The back bumper actually says type SH. You can see the emblem on the trunk lid in the second link of my post a few posts above.

I believe the siR was the name for it in Japan (They had like 10 different versions of the 'Lude) and Type SH was for the US. The actual car in the game is the US version but the name is from the Japanese version.

Well I bought the car last night, bought some upgrades, and did some tuning.

Interesting change to say the least. We have been running A Class for so long I feel like I am driving a turtle now :frown:

The real trick with this car is to figure out if you want to go for handling upgrades and minor engine/speed upgrades OR if you go with engine/speed upgrades and kinda skip the handling. With staying at C550 level you can't have both, I have fiddled with the car with both types of setups and the faster car feels better but then you really are hampered on corners/turns. The better handling car is a lot better there but she is so slow that it takes forever to get around the track.

Hmmm .... decisions, decisions

Thats the kind of complexity I was going for. A-class or above gives you best of both worlds typically. This way one must decide what they want more. A short track car that handles superbly, a long straight car that goes like no tomorrow, or an all-around car that doesn't do anything very well. Plus C-class makes it way more friendly to our newer members who aren't used to racing with us yet.

I ordered a couple of WRT54GLs this morning, and the egg says they've shipped. So if everything works out good I should be able to join in soon.

I literally built two separate cars with identical paint jobs. One with street tires, ~340HP and no wt. reduction so ~3100 pounds. The other, racing slicks, ~2400lbs., stock engine 197HP. My devious plan was to switch them out depending on the track However, the lower HP car was only .2 seconds slower around Road Atlanta, and it's so surgical and smooth to drive I'm just going to stick with it. If I can make it this week that is

Pretty much all of my cars I go full handling, racing slicks etc. and wt. reduction, and then get horsepower last. Racing is all about carrying speed through corners and getting back on the gas early. Slow in fast out.

I've yet to really understand the difference between race and sport tires, sure the race tires give tons more grip but I'm not to the level that my tires stay at 200 the entire time to get super sticky.

Should I put my PI elsewhere? I also prefer handling over power.
