Forza 3 Game Night. Bring it, part deux!

Yeah, I used to buy a used game (rarely bought new games) every 2-3 months. Lately though with all of Amazon's credit and such I've been buying alot more (although all these I got in were trades).

i barely have enough time for forza, let alone 4 other games...wish I did though

Sorry it took me a bit to get here, B class, any car before 1975.

Who was it that had all the extra copies of Forza? My roommate wants to buy one if you're selling.

Whew, I made my cars last night and afterwards wondered if you said C or B. I made 'em B although I think I spent around 250,000 creds on the various builds.

Thanks for the hire a driver tip fellas. I hired a driver on the S-class endurance race, had him drive the Veyron. Got $76K net with all assists off, ran it twice last night and started another before I left for work. I won't do this daily, but to help refresh credits spent tuning with you guys :twisted:

So with these credits I got the Aston DB5. Pretty decent car actually. At stock weight it is a pig in the turns unfortunately, even with race tires & max tire width - dropping max weight helps a LOT.

I've also got the Porsche 916 which is okay. I'm hoping to build up my '60 Vette tonight as well.

I'm going above my pay grade and making a new car choosing list. Is everyone OK with it? I removed GD and Quik from the list as I've not heard from either of them in several months. If they come back we can rework it.

Any comlaints?

We could make a new one but I think it's too soon to count OSJ out, he said he'd be coming back hopefully in the next few weeks once everything with his house is settled. And with Waldo and blowfish back hopefully he'll redouble his efforts to make it back!

And just because you're getting back into Forza doesn't mean you can't make a car pick. You've played both games enough to make a solid choice!

As for car pick, I'm still learning a bit as to the new car classes. In FM2 my fav was A850 as it allowed for handling & power for a lot of the cars. Haven't really done that much to really see for FM3.

Well the classes are relatively in-line, even if the individual numbers aren't. So you could call for max A-class, which would be A600 IIRC. Or max B-class to slow things down a bit.

On a random note - I noticed two odd things when I watched the hired driver for a bit last night.

First - ABS & stability control were enabled on the Veyron he was driving, even though I explicitly turned them off. I saw the lights flashing as he was going round Sebring. What gives?

Second - I watched the telemetry for a bit. The computer never used more than 10-15% braking power, in short bursts right before the turn. Yet, the ABS light was still flashing. Audio was off so I couldn't tell if you could hear the tires locking.

Is this how you guys brake too, was it just a computer thing, or what?

I still have ABS on when I play, but I try to avoid activating it since it screws up my turn-in and you seem to stop faster if you can modulate the brakes to avoid ABS intervention. So that's what I do - a quick maybe 20-25% brake power when I start, then smoothly increase braking until I'm ready to let off, all to avoid engaging ABS.

Does I do it wrong?

The car I just tried to re-make from FM2 was a B class. When I started building it in FM3 to B class, there are some part difference between the two games even managed to use the lightest wheels in FM3 where as in FM2 it had some middle of the road lightweight ones. The FM3 version has more HP/Tq but weighs about 40lbs more than in FM2.

I've got an A class from FM2 that I'm going to try to remake in FM3 and see how that turns out.


On a side note - What the ell did turn10 do to new york? It never was one of my favorites for normal racing, but now I don't like it at all.

So far in career I've only raced on the new one and I actually hate it. I'm not sure if it's my eyes or the tv but between the bright sunny area followed by the dark ass building shadows I have a hard time actually getting lined up right for those chicanes.

try fiddling with your TV settings, forza 3 was almost unplayable on certain tracks but after some adjustment it looks great. if you're using HDMI, set your xbox hdmi settings to "standard" instead of "expanded." also, I found disabling dynamic contrast on my TV helped.

Ok guys I started a new Race night thread and updated it as I could.

Man, I have tuned up some pretty sweet cars.

My C1 Vette turned out better than I expected. I swapped the ZR1 motor in (the C2 ZR1, not the C6) and with max weight removal + max tires and a good suspension setup it is actually rather fun. It's tricky, as it is a bit tail happy, but decently fast and fun to drive.

The C2 Stingray turned out amazing, and I just tried it on a whim. Also with max weight removal, max tires & rear downforce, it is downright amazing. It understeers a good bit of course, but the rear sticks like glue and surprisingly, the stock 4-speed tranny with the monstrous engine work REALLY well together.

If anyone wants the tune for these cars, let me know. I am just that surprised on how they turned out! Then again, I hadn't ever tried the Stingray. And of course all of my cars get the full suspension upgrade. Also, neither of the motors had power upgrades.

Lastly - I will definitely be racing, but may be delayed a bit or drop out for a race. My fiancee is going to make some grub when she gets home, which should be sometime around 9pm EST. So I will need to get mah eatin on, and I need to drop by 10pm either way. But we will definitely get some races in!
