So how did the track selections come up or is that the normal rotation? Its so different from the public lobbies whereby everyone votes to skip tracks and play the same ones and then all the deliberate bumping usually..

Man I don't think I could take public racing. It's tough for me to focus on my driving with just a handful of mostly sane guys racing around me, much less the general public. *shudder*

If I don't use my in-car view it's the hood cam that I use. Hood cam is "better" than in-car but I like the feeling of being in the car.

Hehe, yep. That was my "secret weapon," figuring not many people would associate Opel with Germany, being it's a GM! It is a beast in stock C-class form, but damn surprising in A-class too. I did the full brakes/suspension/tires of course, but before messing with more power I did the max weight reduction. It was around 2000 lbs, with 50/50 weight distribution when I was done adding power. I think power levels were ~280HP/200TQ, maybe a bit more. Nothing impressive, but at 2000 lbs and with shortened gears (I did the full tranny upgrade) it is pretty fast. I also had about 2/3 max downforce front & rear.

It's biggest downfall, as I mentioned in the chat, is the front tires are limited to 225 while the rears are 265 or so. It has immense rear grip, but understeers like a pig. I couldn't stay at speed through the short S-curve on Maple Valley, towards the end of the track.

I need to play with that some more, and it should be a rather fun A-class car for short tracks.

I was most surprised with the 2011 Z4. That turbo motor makes great torque even in the high RPMs, which the M3's don't. I need to make it a bit less tail happy though - maybe more downforce on the rear.

Who was running that M3 that had the custom livery on it? I was surprised to keep seeing it pull past the Z4. I don't think my M3 GTR would be able to, which was making like ~450HP/370TQ.

game host chooses the tracks

Yup, I was choosing them. I'm always open to track requests though.

Back in FM2 we pretty much raced every one of the "big" tracks:

Tsukuba (always the first thing we raced)
Sebring
Suzuka
Laguna Seca
Road Atlanta
Maple Valley
Silverstone
Sunset Infield

We also used to run two Cat & Mouse rounds and another track or two and that was pretty much all the time we had.

Now with all these extra tracks though we usually don't hit all of 'em every night. As long as I'm choosing though there are a few that are guaranteed to be in:

Road Atlanta
Suzuka
Ladera (my favorite track :twisted
Sunset Infield
Laguna Seca

I try to get Sebring and Maple Valley in as well because those are favorites of alot of people and another track or two. C&M I think we played to death (most of us at least).

That was Arby and if he'd been practiced up you'd have seen he and Famous battling it out like crazy all night. He used to race with us every week, he hasn't raced in so long though. MAN he was fast though! I could never keep up with him.

Yeah I'd be interested to hear what he had done to that ride. He pulled me hard on the straights, in what looked like an M3 GTR.

I'm starting to get the racing itch. Got my fingers crossed to be able to start joining in again.

I'm not gone for good, I've just had so much going on with buying the house and all. Researching appliances, blinds for the windows, ceiling fans, lawn mowers, my head is spinning. I intend to come back and race again, but I'm not sure when. I'm hoping things will slow down a little bit here in the next couple weeks while I wait for things to process and all, so maybe I'll be able to get back then.

It can take a bit of time.

For appliances we were limited to best buy as I already have thier cc & they were doing 18mths no interest. Just got tax refund & paid it off.

Got lucky on the mower. My dad bought a new self propelled so I hit him up about his old pusher that he didn't like using. Ended up spending around $30-$40 in parts for it, which would have been less if I could have found the right blade for it, but I was in a hurry and bought an adapter & different brand blade. My boss let me borrow a weedeater from work last summer, but I'm starting to look into getting my own soon.

Now that the weather is stating to get nice I need to start working on getting the garage cleaned up. We still have boxes stacked up out there from when we moved in.

SO I'm going to totally slum here and ask--anyone interested in gifting a car to a newb? It can be anything considering I've played the game for all of 5 mins.

XBL = v0mitg0d (in zeros)

Do we get special recognition in your next episode of Played or special "behind the scenes" info on upcoming games or anything at all?

I think I've got 2 of a few different cars, as I bought one and then got for free. Add me and I'll see what I've got later

Displacement is great for across the board torque, especially on small engined cars that are lacking down low and where you can't adjust gearing to compensate.

However my first upgrade on almost every car is cams. Reality is that unless you're racing a car with stock, super-tall gearing that you're going to spend most of your time in the high RPM range. Not only do the cams give you more power where you spend most of your time, but they extend your redline and essentially give you more MPH per gear without resorting to taller gears that reduce your acceleration. Win-win, IMO.

It's been awhile since I played FM3, and overall I haven't played that much. In FM2 there were a few times the only power upgrade I'd do was the cams & valves. It didn't give that much of a torque boost, but it did give a HP increase along with adjusting the redline to allow it to rev higer, which in some cars helped a lot.

I will admit to upgrading the exhaust on occasion where I may have had a better power upgrade option, but just wanted the sound

haha, sometimes i'll take a mid engined italian v12 out just to hear the intake whoosh from my rear speakers :awe:
