Forza 3 game night - part 2

Every Wednesday at 9pm Eastern/8pm Central/6pm Pacific, a group of us meet up to play Forza 3 on Xbox 360. We run a variety of tracks and cars and a good time is had by all. As many of you have no doubt seen, we raced in Forza 2 for a while. The first Forza 3 thread is here

We've got racers of all skill levels and abilities so anyone is welcome to come out and race with us. The main thing to keep in mind is that we try to run clean races. If you're looking for a lobby not filled with jerks that do nothing but wreck you and don't apologize if they do, etc., then come out and join us.


The group
Here's a list of racers that have started trying to revive race night. You should add everyone on this list to your friends list so you can join regardless of who is hosting. If you want to join up, or I made an error just shoot me a PM and I'll get updated.

Kabob has made the gamertag AnandTechGaming that can be used through the friend of a friend to find fellow ATers to game with / against. This GT has people that play different games, so some may not be into FM3.

Car pick schedule
We're on a rotating car picking schedule where each racer gets their chance to pick out the car(s) that are eligible for racing each week.

Good racing again. Still remember that car flipping in my rear-view mirror on the chicane @ Road Atlanta

For next week I propose:
- All Japanese cars (this include their US luxury brands).
- A-class max
* Track Request: Japanese Tracks including: Fujimi Kaido, Suzuka, Tsukuba

This should give us a pretty wide selection of cars that people probably already have. What do you guys think?

Man, I have tuned up some pretty sweet cars.

My C1 Vette turned out better than I expected. I swapped the ZR1 motor in (the C2 ZR1, not the C6) and with max weight removal + max tires and a good suspension setup it is actually rather fun. It's tricky, as it is a bit tail happy, but decently fast and fun to drive.

The C2 Stingray turned out amazing, and I just tried it on a whim. Also with max weight removal, max tires & rear downforce, it is downright amazing. It understeers a good bit of course, but the rear sticks like glue and surprisingly, the stock 4-speed tranny with the monstrous engine work REALLY well together.

If anyone wants the tune for these cars, let me know. I am just that surprised on how they turned out! Then again, I hadn't ever tried the Stingray. And of course all of my cars get the full suspension upgrade. Also, neither of the motors had power upgrades.

Lastly - I will definitely be racing, but may be delayed a bit or drop out for a race. My fiancee is going to make some grub when she gets home, which should be sometime around 9pm EST. So I will need to get mah eatin on, and I need to drop by 10pm either way. But we will definitely get some races in!

Yeah, I told him that last night during the racing. He said he'd update it when he gets a chance.

Also, from the list up top I'd remove the following guys (since I've not seen/heard from them in either a really long time or ever):

*edit* I understand missing the night you picked your car (I've done it) but I haven't seen him in months! Come back to us frostie!!

I'm hoping that when OSJ comes back that GD will join in again as well since they're buddies.

LOL - I had a similar thought. And I ended up making an A600 FR Mazdaspeed3, but traction was non-existent due to no downforce. For fun I changed it to FF. LOL - talk about no power when cornering.

dear lord, these cars are insane. i made a 600hp fwd SRT-4...it would be a bullet car if only it could get some traction.

on a quest now to find a v8-v12 swap for a fwd car

I'm kidding, I get to recycle a car I used a while ago (although back then it had a really crappy tune, I need to find a better one). If the Focus RS didn't exist though...I'm not sure I could find a car I like enough to drive! D: Actually, come to think of it there's a few decent FF WTCC cars.

Either way, I should be there though.

The best handler that I found was the SEAT Supercup whatever car, that you get for free in the game. It can actually power through turns without skating. But the "Speed" rating is rather low and I know the top-speed monsters you guys have will fly right past it.

haha, i definitely don't plan on using them, was just trying it out for fun. the seat handles really well...I also have a pretty solid RSX.

several of the lower end cars FF cars can't reach A600 even with all upgrades

Ah an RSX, nice choice. The Speed3 is a beast, it just roasts those damn tires in the turn. I think I like the SRT4 I built a bit better than the Speed3, surprisingly. I got it to run I think in the 1:35 range at Laguna Seca? The SEAT is still the best handler so far, hands down.
