I copied that list straight from the other thread and then added the new cars...there must have been a reason it was axed!

*Ahh, I looked back through the old thread, it wasn't axed, it was never allowed because it's essentially a pre-packaged rocket car*

Man I haven't had time to tune yet.

RX-8 eh? How do those do at A600? Powerhouse I bet. I'm going to do a Vette, RX-8 for fun and an LP640

It is sort of a rocket, but it's pretty terrible compared to the other cars. Just my experience.

Yeah handling probably can't keep up with that power.

I got some prep done today. I played with my C5Z, C6 GS and C6Z. The C5Z is pretty decent, I think it ended up with 450+ HP, 1st tire upgrade, and of course full suspension + brakes. The Corvettes have such tall gearing stock that you have to at least get the adjustable final gear ratio, if not the fully adjustable tranny (but that eats up a good amount of PI).

Still, I liked the C6 GS better. It too is close to 500HP and handles better than the C5Z for me. More stable and planted, with about the same accel I believe.

Maybe I was just expecting too much of the C6Z, but I didn't like it for A600. Very little room to upgrade meant you could have a hair more power, tires to make it actually competitive, or adjustable gears so you aren't lugging it up a hill in 4th, but you can only pick 2.

I'm going to try a couple German or Italian cars tomorrow, but I like the C6 GS quite a bit.

Yeah the C5 doesn't compete with the C6 unfortunately.

I managed to put brakes/suspension/wings/lightest wheels on z06. I don't think the 4th gear lug is enough to make any notable difference in lap times. I can only think of Laguna seca as an example, in which case I have another car :sneaky:

On a sidenote, I could never figure out WHY GM made the odd 4th gear ratio on both the C5 and C6Z... It doesn't interfere with the quarter mile shiftpoints I don't think.

The only thing I thought of is the 1-4 skip shift, but even a ratio change like that has such little effect because you're skipping 2 gears anyway...

The same issue can be found in 5th gear in the C6. This I understand is for top speed purposes, but the car is a dog compared to other 450hp+ cars after 160mph when it shifts into 5th because it's got terrible spacing.

I guess they just wanted great acceleration in 1-3, while they wanted top speed achieved in 5th, so they had no choice but to make 4th an odd ratio...

Funny real life story about 1-4 skip shift.

My buddy bought the unit to get rid of the skip shift (apparently just something you plug in? I'm not familiar with 'em). They only had directions for a Corvette or something and he was putting the unit in his Dodge Viper. Well, he followed the instructions as best he could and gave it a whirl, still jumping from 1st to 4th. D'oh!

He calls the guy who sells the unit and asks him about it...the guy says "You put it in a Viper? It'll work but you need to install it in the other direction" or something of the sort. My buddy tells him he already installed it how the directions said and the seller says "oh, you just removed your reverse gear lockout...you might wanna undo that." D:

He reverse the install and it works fine now.

The C6 GS with adjustable gear ratios isn't bad at all. I can launch decently even with a short 1st gear. I spent most of the time in 3rd, but 4th is reasonably short and 5th you will use for the straights anyway.

I figured it would be best to keep the PI in the tires & engine rather than spend another 10 or so PI on the fully adjustable tranny. We'll see!

Ya know, I kinda feel gipped. I got a free DLC code for the R&T car pack...it is about the weakest car pack there is. Why not the holiday pack with the GT-R and 458? Or the one with the Corvette GS and 911 Classic? Or the exotic car pack?

My buddy's explanation for the skip shift/reverse lockout debacle is that the Vettes have the transmission in the rear of the car while the Viper's is in the front, so "logically" (if he'd known) it would make sense or something.

Ya know, I'm going to invite said buddy to race with us tonight, he used to play Forza 2 like a fiend, maybe he'll get into FM3 with us.

Yup, same guy. He's got...8 cars now? Very cool guy, I actually met him randomly on the ar15 forums, he'd just moved to my city, found out he liked motorcycles, sports cars, and Xbox.
