So how do you benchmark this?

Action and Dxtory do not even show an OSD. Latest versions.

They work for me, you can see DXtory in both of the links in the OP.

Does it show up in other games for you? If not it might be disabled globally. Are you making sure to use the extreme beta version from April 8th? That fixed DX12 support.

I am using the 2.0.134 from the link you posted in the first page.

http://exkode.com/dxtory-downloads-en.html

It works for Ashes of the Singularity DX12 though.

Something weird is going on. It does not even register in the "profile" section of Dxtory. Everything else I run, appears up there.

Needless to say that I have no other OSD running along with it. Latest forceware whql.

Where does MS hide the executable file for the game? Wanted to add profile to disable crossfire and couldn't find it.

\WindowsApps\Microsoft.ApexPG_1.0.6.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\forzamotorsportapex.exe

You can browse the folders easy by just running notepad as admin (CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER / Right-click and "Run as Administrator")

Also if the game is running, go to task manager Processes -> Right-Click "Go to Details" will bring you to the Details Panel and show you the exe name. Clicking Properties on that will give you the path (trying to browse to it will give you access denied error due to not being "admin" level)

I'm able to run this at a constant 60fps (appears to be capped there sadly) maxed settings except AA is at 4x simply because I don't see a visual benefit by going above that. GPU usage is only about 50%. This is at 1440p with the specs in sig. I'm also seeing mainly 2 threads being utilized.

WOW, Kepler is not just aging, it's literally pulling off FX5000 series DX9 performance in DX12 games. It's no longer a coincidence. Clearly, Kepler is just bombing now; perfect timing for Kepler owners to jump ship to Pascal 1070/1080 before the entire Kepler line is worth almost nothing. 280X matching the OG Titan, R9 290 destroying 780Ti easily, and R9 290X beating 780Ti at 1440p by 37% is just incredible. Even the 960 4GB is matching a 780 -- insane. Another trend I highlighted since January 2015 -- 2GB VRAM cards are dead. I hope people on AT stock recommending 2GB cards for gaming outright.

Hawaii was only a 438mm2 chip and 780Ti was a 561mm2 chip. Given their die size differences and performance under DX12, for modern DX12 games, it's like 9800Pro vs. FX5900. This game also seems to LOVE pixel fill-rate as 290X beats 7970 by 65% @ 1440p.

Over the last 6 months, Hawaii has easily proven that objectively R9 290X will go down as the FAR better gaming chip than 780Ti was. 980 beats 290X by just 1 fps at 1440p. Impressive, very impressive given that GCN continues to excel in basically every new DX12 game other than Rise of the Tomb Raider. Cannot wait to see the showdown of Pascal vs. Vega in 2017 to see the progress newer architectures make under DX12, given that well DX12 games are the future.

DX12, hence why Kepler isn't even on the map and even Maxwell is barely keeping up (i.e., 980 beats 290X by only 1 fps at 1440p). Yet another DX12 game where GCN shows its strength.

So in hindsight we can now safely say that HD7970/7970Ghz/R9 280X won the 680/770 generation and R9 290/290X won the 780/780Ti generation. No doubt about that anymore as far as objective performance goes for DX11/DX12 games overall and CF vs. SLI (7970Ghz/280X CF > 680/770 SLI, 290X CF > 780Ti SLI). Too bad most people picked the wrong horse over both of those generations.

I wouldn't draw so many "without a doubt" conclusions based on numbers that don't make sense. Like getting 70+fps in a game that's capped at 60

A little humble now are we.

AMD is certainly winning the performance crown here. Perhaps due to optimizing for the Xbox One's low memory bandwidth, even the 960 holds up fairly well at 1920 x 1080 (something that would ordinarily hammer it down) though an OCd 280X would be better still. It's likely the 4 GB 960 is doing better than the 2 GB one due to factory overclocks. The minimums don't suggest 2 GB being a limiting factor, and in a racing game (vs an open world game) it's quite unlikely.

I suppose it is a good thing gamers on Kepler aren't forced at gunpoint to run at maximum settings and 8x AA though, are they?

Loaded it up today. Runs like a dream on my i3-6100/GTX950 box. Total midrange setup and it looks stunning to me. Fast, fluid and very pretty.

I get that 4K gaming with top end video cards is really sweet but many folks have midrange stuff, game only occasionally and are very happy with mid-to high settings at 1900x res.

Has to be. I was having terrible hitching problems despite FPS being high till I rebooted.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1AJW9y1_tI

So it looks like the game is running at half the refresh rate my monitor is actually running at. My desktop refresh rate is 120 because if I set it to 144hz, my video card idles at 3d clock speeds. As a test, I set it to 144hz, and I was getting around 72fps strange

Did some more troubleshooting. Game works fine up to 100hz, at 120Hz its capped at 60 fps and at 144hz it's capped at 72.

Interestingly enough, when I go to this site, http://www.vsynctester.com/detect.html Microsoft Edge behaves the exact same way. That website detects my refresh rate correctly up to 100hz and halves it at 120 and 144hz. Using Google Chrome it detects it accurately all the way up to 144hz.

Edge is UWP as well, send a bug report into Microsoft with your findings.

Oh the game seems to kill my XB1/wireless receiver, ended up having to reboot the computer for the receiver to work again. Doesn't happen in other games, almost thought my receiver was fried and that I would have to get another one. Works fine with wired XB1 or the XB360 controller though.

Game runs great otherwise on the i3 6100, even tested it with a GTX750Ti and no problems.

Never happened to me with my wireless XB1 controller. Next time that happens try unplugging the wireless adapter and plug it back in and try reconnecting. Most likely is W10 being buggy or something because I get a random disconnect now and then but never on the Xbox which is about the same amount of distance away.

Game seems to run pretty well on my 8320/r9 290 @ vsr 1440p. Ride was the last racing Sim I've played in recent memory. So I'm happy to see things like ambient effects being more prevalent in forza. Was pretty neat to be driving around Rio and seeing Waves of water splashing along the coast. Nice step up from the usual box people standing on the sidelines :3
Wondering what camera view everyone seems to prefer? I usually go the more arcadey route and take the behind the car cam. Where as my brother was always more into cockpit cams.

Unlocked Frame Rate and More Now Enabled for UWP
We’re listening – and acting

As a direct response to your feedback, we’re excited to announce the release today of new updates to Windows 10 that make gaming even better for game developers and gamers.

Later today, Windows 10 will be updated with two key new features:

Support for AMD’s FreesyncTM and NVIDIA’s G-SYNC™ in Universal Windows Platform games and apps
Unlocked frame rate for Universal Windows Platform (UWP) games and apps
Once applications take advantage of these new features, you will be able to play your UWP games with unlocked frame rates. We expect Gears of War: UE and Forza Motorsport 6: Apex to lead the way by adding this support in the very near future.

This OS update will be gradually rolled out to all machines, but you can download it directly here .

After quite some testing, I found out that on my secondary system the Dxtory OSD actually works, as long as keep the framerate to dynamic. Anything else and the OSD disappears. lol

On my 970 system, there is no OSD no matter what. Go figure.

Also the windows store, did not allow me to even install the game, when I had my old 5850 on that system. Once I switched it to my 7950 the install option lit up again.

Once inside the game, it did not allow me to set the settings to ultra. It said only up to high can be achieved. Seriously? They are going to tell us how to set up our games now, even if it's only for testing?

The whole thing is getting beyond silly. No game is worth the lack of freedom microsoft is pushing pc gaming into.

Just played a game on SPA + very heavy rain + outside view and fps was the same as on clear day with R9 390 and Core i7 3770K@4.44GHz.

58 to 60 fps

edit: Ahh gamepgu.ru seems they used 8x MSAA .

<images>

Yeah it looks and plays amazingly on pretty much anything if you don't force everything to max (and even then...). Very impressive.
