Physics seem fine to me, it feels just like any other Forza. Played the Spa endurance in the R-class Corvette and it was an absolute dream to drive with all the assists off.
Yea I played it, lighting looked freaking awesome, especially with HDR. Top notch. Only the backgrounds seemed pre rendered which is common for racing games.Anyone play the GT Sport demo/beta? It looked awesome with the lighting but disappointly it seemed to be pre-rendered mostly. There is some serious rubberband AI where you get passed like you're standing still near the end of the race and some poor tactics as well. For example the AI will move over if they are being lapped for other AI cars but then not move over for you the same way. Just felt bland really because you never feel like the game takes into account your performance throughout the race. Though I think the physics are better than what I remember from forza, haven't played 7 yet so I don't know.
Will wait for the reviews on Xbox X for Forza 7. Forza 6 was alright but felt underwhelming.
And didn't they say Toyota lineup has been dropped? Is that true? If I can't drive the Supra then they won't get another penny from me until it returns and maybe I go to Sony's GT:S if they have the my cars there.
GT Sport is in many ways a departure for Gran Turismo, aimed squarely at people interested in rising through the ranks of a professionally governed online racing league. As a result, developer Polyphony Digital and the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile have taken strict control over player progress, car purchases, and even the in-game photo mode for some mysterious reason. You aren't given a choice to either opt in or out of this system, and must contend with its limitations even if you have zero interest in the FIA.
Gone are the days of experimenting with cars from decades past that offer more charm than horsepower. If that's what you're after, you should probably keep playing Gran Turismo 6, or look to a modern alternative like Forza Motorsport 7 to get your fix.
From everything I've read there's still a regular arcade/career mode in GT:S, it's just not the giant car collection garage style the previous games offer. Seems more work went into each individual car instead of having 20 of the same car to balloon the roster. Yes, this means I don't get my beloved '94 Mazda RX-7 R2 in competition white mica or my 787b but so be it if it means better cars overall. I'm with you though as I really hope it's not 90% online matchmaking and 10% everything else.picking up my copy at lunch time; getting nervous reading some early critic reviews though...
apparently the game doesn't really have a career mode, per say; it's heavily aimed toward real online competition. I'll give it a chance, but it sort of sounds like it's NOT the casual, laid back racing game that I was hoping would land on the PS4. i'm going to be upset if this new focus doesn't work out for me. I don't mind racing online with friends but matchmaking and random challengers typically doesn't go well nowadays.
ugh, now I got this sinking feeling...
At 4:25 in the video I linked there's a quick shot of some of the customization you can look at.I'm all for the omitting of lower quality vehicle models and a smaller pool of choice automobiles overall, that's fine, but I also like custom tunes and adding just a touch of flair to my favorite rides--whether it be a custom set of wheels or some conservative lowering springs. I hope I can at least tune some of the vehicles beyond tire pressure, braking, and aero though.
I am still excited to try it, but I think it's going to be quite a foreign experience from what I'm used to. Worst case scenario... it's lousy but nothing will ever be as bad as Driveclub.
The road courses in the game are all good but not only does it lack all of the great original GT tracks like Trial Mountain, High Speed Ring, Grand Valley, SSR5 and Tokyo Route 246 but almost all of the legendary real world road courses are gone! There's no Leguna Seca, Monza, Spa, Fuji, Silverstone, Le Mans or even Indianapolis! I'm not sure I can take the game seriously without having any of those great tracks. Yes, they are featured in other games but they belong in GT also. Nurburgring, Suzuka, and Willow Springs are there, along with some other cool road courses I've never driven but oh my where's the rest of them? DLC I'm hoping... maybe?

That's good to hear, my copy should arrive today in the mail. I've read some stuff about additional content for the game though not much has been said outside of there will be more added to the game. The impression I got was they had already spent a LONG time in development and wanted to get something out before the holidays. Yamauchi said on twitter that we'll be getting a lot more cars and more tracks with the dlc. It was asked previously if this would be free or paid and it seems to be a mix of both. I'd think we'd get the tracks for free to keep the online community in one grouping along with more commercial and super gt cars. We'll probably get charged for vintage and exotics.Played it for a few hours... I'm liking it more than I thought after reading through some stuff today. The driving itself feels great, as expected from a GT game, but it definitely falls short in the content department. I can excuse the thinning of vehicle selection but the tracks... oh the tracks. The game is good and looks phenomenal, and you can earn plenty of credits and mileage points just by setting up custom races but yea there's not much there in the way of a career mode. The upgrade system is about as streamlined as they could possibly make it and there's like 10 aftermarket wheel designs to choose from lol. Photo shoots are still cool but not really what I care about... it worked in previous games because there was plenty else to do and it felt like icing on the cake. I think I'll keep at it for now, when I can, but I surely hope something is done to add more tracks in the future. I haven't really been following the game's development like I did with GT5 but if anyone knows of any insider info, that would be pretty slick.
Pros: gorgeous graphics and car models, mature elitist focus on car culture, driving model is awesome once dialed in; likely a decent online community, .
Cons: significantly less vehicles than all previous GT games, very limited track selection and customization options, AI is pretty mindless, dated GUI
I'd give it a solid 7 out of 10 how it stands. It's really good but with a bit more content would easily be one of the best PS4 exclusives.
yes, but PC2 is not Gran Turismo...
Why include all tracks when they can sell them to you down the road and take more $$$ from you? That is the new way of developing games.yes, but PC2 is not Gran Turismo... and I like the driving in GT way more. Forza has better tracks also, and is a great game in its own right, but GT had a lot of original tracks that were excellent. Just not sure why they would have omitted all of them. Trial Mountain and Grand Valley have been in all previous games iirc.
it's not the end of the world... but pretty close
