And I might buy it. The thing hasn't been smogged in like 10 years, but the seller has at least caught the registration up...

Body is straight, has new bucket and bench seats, and new tires. Couldn't check out the engine. I'm gonna call the seller today.

Original paint that looks exactly like this one: someone else's bus

$900 seems like a pretty good deal to me. The seller drives it, so it's not a total junker (it's always in a different spot and has a child seat in it...)

I had a 69 once that never got put together, and I've always wanted a bus. I was hoping to find one that didn't have to be smogged, but I'll live I think.. heh

Just a little... Until I hurt my back I was hardcore into working on my cars. Even worked at a body shop for a while. Now I just tinker... Most recent thing was a new engine in my Volvo.

I thought it was a pretty good deal. My wife really wants it too. LoL I think she just wants a vehicle we can pile people into when the whole fam damily goes to dinner or something. The new interior will make it seem less like an old bus.

I guess they look ok as long as you leave the paint original and don't put any sticker on it that remotely reminds you of hippies.

I don't know about your area, but most VW Buses I see around Portland is beat up as hell and they often carry some very liberal stickers.

Good for you

Two very important things to watch for ;

1)The late model 1.8 and 2.0 L engines like to suck up exhaust valves.

2)Rust, especially around the rear torsion tubes

Is this a westy ?

*shakes head*

Pops overinflated bag on head.

Not a westy and I'll check the rust. I've seen that before too but forgot. Thanks.

I have many spare parts along with a running 1.8 L and tranny from a '74 if you need it

Well, considering I'm not a liberal...

Prolly only stickers I'll have on there are surf stickers.

If you aren't liberal why do you want a VW bus?

Early air cooled VW's are very reliable, it's the later water cooled crap that sucks the donkey.

Thanks for the forum... I'll go lurk until I get the keys to my new baby. heh

The front does have a crumple zone, your feet and knees

Actually the front bumper is welded to a crumple zone which inturn is welded to the front of the bus.
