I just killed one in the back yard today. It was only a little baby one, probably less than ten inches. I couldn't tell what type it was, too brown to be a gartner snake or black snake. Was afraid it may have been a copperhead or such. I've let other snakes go, but I figured since the kids play in the back I wouldn't chance it with this one.

lol, during summer I must see 20 of these a month outside. would never have thought of posting a picture of one here.
But judgeing by the reactions must be a lot of city boys here?
Maybe I will try and get a picture of the four deer I saw this morning around the corner.
Never know when they will show up though.

Well, maybe one kind of snake
Sorry for the immature remark

I'm not ashamed of it.
The first thing I think of anytime someone mentions a Garter Snake is the Moulin Rouge Video with Pink and Christina acting slutty in their whore outfits.

Yeah, actually when we found this snake it was eating a frog. It was pretty wild.

Well this is AT afterall. Most of us spend all of our time on the net or playing videogames. It wasn't suprising to me since I grew up playing outside and messing around with wildlife (not in a negative manner).

It was fun holding it though.

It looked like either the timber rattler or copperhead. I couldn't see any rattles but it was probably too small to have them.

I am not extremely fond of snakes, but I definitely don't go around killing any snake I see in the backyard like some freaks do. I think they are an asset since they kill pests.

Here he is in a small tree.

I would so freak out if I saw that, that close up. I have had a huge vegetable garden every year since I was a teen, and have yet to see a snake in one of my patches. Thank God. Unfortunately I have seen lots of spiders, and weird freaky ones too. *shivers*

Sounds like you should get a snake. They'll take care of a lot of your gardens pests and a garter snake won't hurt you.

Eh, they do bite, and can actually get fairly big. Not like it's going to kill you or anything, but it can hurt.

'Course, most of the time they just put on a facade of meanness to try to scare you away or just run away.

Hmm..eitherway, definitely a good call if you can't identify the snake and you have little ones around.
