Not surprised. Mining has always been a good and bad thing for amd. This makes it easier for amd to price higher for gpus like this since it will still be profitable for mining, but hurts gamerd who have to compete with miners for gpus at launch.

Supply seems low for sure. My 380 shorted out suddenly after 18 months of use, thanks again MSI.

So I'm looking at getting a 570, all models on Back Order. Just to add a little more drama, I could Back Order a 580 4gb for just $30 more. They being the cheapest 580s available seems kinda dodgy. For another $40 I could even get an 8gb 580, which is somewhat tempting, but I'm spending way over my preferred budget now, which was $0 to begin with as I was holding a sum of money in reserve for an eventual Ryzen build. Ugh.

All that said, just yesterday there were only 70%ish the amount of Models for Back Order as there was today. So that's progress, I guess.

It sounded like the guy giving the interview said "a couple 10,000 cards" (6:12 in the video).

No wonder Polaris prices have been creeping up. I was going to buy some for another mining rig but the cheapest 470 I can find is $180.

The largest hurdle for AMD in gaming has been how good AMD chips are at everything EXCEPT gaming lol.
Hawaii was hilarious. Great at everything, hampered by a crap cooler, destroyed pricing wise by insane demand from people outside of gaming.

The better an AMD chip is, the less likely gamers will actually get it before other interested parties with a more profit driven motive and that's one of AMDs LARGEST hurdles.

Actually the funniest part here is that everywhere else except gaming market people believe that AMD GPUs are rubbish at everything else apart from gaming. Talk about using AMD GPUs for compute to anybody in the industry. They will ask you: AMD? What is it? Does it run CUDA?

That is how bad brand perception AMD has.
