the x800xl at this price pretty much spoils it's purpose: to compete againts the 6800gt at $299. ati has got to get things together...they (and nvidia) bteter not release new stuff till a year+ from now. i am so sick of having to upgrade my vcard so often.

I preordered one over at ATI for 299.99. That's the MSRP. They won't let me use a 10% family/friend coupon because of FatWallet abuse but 299.99 is still a bargain considering the ridiculous supply issues that plague Nvidia and ATI (you would think they would wait to be able to mass produce something before selling to general public) that inflate the MSRPs. I highly doubt that card will sell below that after release.

Only problem is WHEN ATI is actually going to release it. It's supposed to be the end of this month but I'm not holding my breath.

CompUSA is also going to have it for MSRP. I got my ATI.com order in for $245, but we'll see if that ever ships.

Be careful with gameve, I had a ton of trouble when I ordered my 6800GT from them, but I won't get into it. Just make sure you call them and make sure the card is in stock because the website can be wrong.

The MSRP is supposed to be $300. If you can wait a few weeks Im sure you wont regret it. Hopefully mc has another sale like the one that got me my 6800GT for $320+ CA tax.
