found old expired beer in the basement - how drinkable?

it is set to expire on September 1st, 2017 it's not like on September 2nd it's bad

I've had expired beer that was bad by a few months. It tasted a bit "odd" compared to fresher stuff from the same brewery, but it wasn't terrible and I didn't die.

Different beers age differently.

1.) any sun expoure? Even in brown bottles, if it sits in the sun for a month it's probably gross.
2.) what style of brew? Lagers don't last long at all, imperial stouts last a long time, though coffee stouts tend to lose their coffee flavors pretty quickly...

Depends on the temperature of the environment and alcohol content. 10% ABV in say sub 65 degree temps will last years. 5% ABV at 70 though ..... probably not.

Dental Metal fillings in the acidic/carbonated beer create a battery with the aluminum.

Don't let the beer touch your fillings or pour it into a glass.

Same goes for those tin/aluminum take out containers. Always used the plastic silverware or put it on a plate and use real silverware or else your food will taste like metal. Don't use two different types of bare metal to handle your food.

Myth what? Pretty much fact that cold->warm->cold beer tastes horrible. If it was warm all its life and the plan is to drink it warm or cool it, he's good to go.
