You think a Chipotle burrito is a healthy alternative?

I don't think there's much of a difference between the food at McDonald's, Taco Bell, Burger King, and Chipotle. Maybe I'm crazy and wrong, but I honestly don't think so. Chipotle is a fast food (basically) restaurant like the others and is similarly priced, it's not like they get their food from some magical health place.

Maybe the problem is that people don't actually understand nutrition very well. For example, neither HFCS nor sugar belong in 99% of the foods that have them, and there is either zero difference or a very marginal difference between them in terms of nutrition. Also, chips are packaged shit food.

You guys are complete and total morons - as well as living proof that our education system is totally screwed.

Seriously, you're comparing a fast food burger and fries - drenched in vegetable oil to Rice, beans, and lean meat? When I go I tell them to cut the rice in half, load it up on extra beans and chicken and load it with veggies. Plus, I only eat half and it lasts me 2 full meals. This is basically the cornerstone to any and all of my weight loss.

Do you really have your head so far up your ass as to compare that to a Big mac and fries?

What makes you think your inlaws does not have good intention towards their kids? How is your system better than your inlaws?

Well the only logical solution is this. You said 'nieces', so you have two. You get one, and they get one for a whole year. You feed them your way, they feed them theirs.

You both meet at the end of one year and compare notes and the health of each child.

To a big mac and fries? I'd say so

BTW: Don't confuse "healthier alternative" with "healthy"... Chipotle is not healthy, but compared to a cheeseburger and fries I'd say you have a better shot at getting something that has at least a few decent ingredients. All depends on what you order though

BS- Chiplotle can be very healthy. For instance, when I'm working out I'll hit their burrito bowls for lunch:

- 2x beans, no rice
- any meat
- fijtia vegetables
- pico
- cheese
- guac
- lettuce

That's under 600 calories and has over 50g of protein. Great choice!

What gets unhealthy is when you load it up with rice, tortillas, chips, sour cream, and guac.

You can eat half of a big mac and fries too. A big mac and medium fries is 870 calories.

When I put your order into the chipotle nutrition calculator, I'm guessing the chipotle burrito is about 900 calories. Depends on how much extra chicken and beans you put in. I assumed literally half of a white rice serving, 1.5x chicken, 1.5x beans, and a fajita veggie add. Without any cheese, sour cream, guacamole, or salsas, that's 910 calories.

I don't know how someone who doesn't understand basic nutritional science can manage to lose weight, but congratulations on doing so in spite of this.

"Basic nutrition science"? You're the one stupid enough to believe that 870 calories of fried vegetable oil is equivalent to 870 calories of healthy fats and protein. As if your body processes the nutrients the same regardless of what type of calorie.

Keep digging your grave further - you dropped out of high school didn't you?

How are you getting under 600? I'm getting 830 calories. It is a lot of protein, though. Also a large amount of sodium.

Calories is still by far the dominant factor. Try eating 5000 calories a day of avocado and chicken and see how that goes for your weight loss. The metabolic differences aren't going to compensate for eating too many calories. The main weight loss benefit from the chipotle burrito over the mcdonalds meal (aside from the fact that you are comparing half a meal to a full meal) is going to be satiety from the added protein. The metabolic differences aren't going to make much of a difference compared to eating half of a burrito vs a full big mac and fries meal.

If you're healthy and sweating while working out, sodium isn't much of a concern. I just checked Chipolte's counter and those ingredients come up to 580 calories.

?? Did you forget to add the meat and one of the beans? That's the only way I get under 600. Or if you omit the guac and pico it's 580.

- 2x beans, no rice = 130+130 = 260
- any meat = 180 (chicken)
- fijtia vegetables = 20
- pico = 25
- cheese = 110
- guac = 230
- lettuce = 10
