Found these kittens outside my bedroom window

I would try to sell them for like 100 bucks, and say that the money goes to the humane society or something. The reason I'd charge is to reduce the odds of a wacko taking them. If people pay at least you know they are most likely wanting a kitten to care for.

Though you could check with the shelter to see if they have enough room for them and that they have good odds of living. Like if you go to the shelter and they say they're only 50% full and people come get kittens all the time, then they'd be safe there.

You have a good point there. As another person pointed out, kittens and puppies are more likely to get adopted than anything. I can see that point. I'm just scared for them. I am really hoping mama cat will come back around and look for them. If she does, I will put them back where we found them and hope they stay cool for the next few weeks.

Those are pretty big kittens, definitely not newborns, and not feral since you picked them up with no problem. No mama cat is nursing them in the wild. Either they walked away from a near by neighbor or, more likely, they were dumped outside your window.

Take them to the shelter so they can be checked for health issues and fixed before adoption. This is kitten season and kittens go pretty fast at shelters. Whatever you do, don't adopt them out yourself until they are fixed or you are just adding more unwanted kittens to the population. And forget about being paid for the kittens, not going to happen for a private adoption. Most shelters beg people to take kittens at half-price this time of the year, and that's with fixing them, shots and a clean bill of health.

And I repeat: better to have them put down than adopt them out without first being spayed or neutered.

Their eyes are quite open and they appear more like 8 weeks old already.

As for eating, you may have to "show" them that what you're providing is food...they're probably not familiar with cat food as food. What we've done is put the food into a plate then put the kitten at the plate and gently put their nose into the food. They'll hate it momentarily, but they'll lick the food off their noses and may start right up eating. One probably will do that, one will be hesitant, and one will need a bit of work to get it to start eating. They're definitely old enough to eat both wet and dry cat food.

Good call Paladin. I will look into that tomorrow and see how much it would cost. Our budget is super-thin at the moment, so I am hoping it won't cost much :/

Thank you very much for that info! I will do just that, and hopefully get them to eat something. I am not sure when their last meal was, and I want to make sure they are taken care of while they are with me.

I really hope so! First thing tomorrow, I will call the local humane society and see what they can do for these adorable kittens. I'm still keeping an eye out for the mama cat.

I am a bit worried about the grey kitten in the first picture. It has some sort of "lazy eye" on the right side. I am hoping that there is nothing wrong with the kitten, and that eventually it will correct itself.

LOL KT!! I'm not sure about the other two, but that black one has that "look" in her eyes! I could only imagine what they would tell their kitten friends when they get back here.. "Man, we got shipped off to this guy who used these ...um.. *tools* to get some info out of us. I didn't talk, but my chump brothers did! Pfft... amateurs! You wouldn't believe what I went through... Unspeakable!"

We have 3 that look like the last gray/white one.

I'd say learn 'em to eat and use the litter box while waiting to see if the momma cat comes looking for them. If she never shows up, and as you already indicated you can't keep them, I would ask friends/family/co-workers first, then the local no-kill shelter second, Humane Society last.

Myself, as a last ditch resort, even if I really don't want to keep an animal, I will do so to keep it from dying or being abused. And that's how I still have 3 of the 6 puppies my dog gave birth to back in May.

That's what I was thinking as well. The only thing is I wouldn't want to separate momma cat from her babies, if she even comes around. I don't know where she is.

well it's best to find them homes, there are many organizations that will do low cost spay/neuters and find them homes.

Heat isn't really an issue for cats...freezes are. It's not unusually for kittens to be left alone while their momma hunts.

I completely agree with you on that. My girlfriend has been taking advice from earlier and trying to "gently force" them to eat, just so they know where the food is. I'd be devastated if I knew the outcome of these kittens looked grim. I do have faith that they would go to very loving homes. Who couldn't love kittens like these?!

One question though... Why would you put the Humane Society last? Is there some "questionable" practices that I am unaware of with them? I guess I may be a bit naive in thinking that they would be well cared for until someone adopts them, no matter the time frame.

Thank you for that info Alk. I was very worried about the upcoming heat wave (90+) we are supposed to be getting this week. I'm not entirely smart when it comes to cats, so I don't know what is tolerable to them, and what isn't.

Good point. I think I will do the (hopefully) right thing, and give the Humane Society a call tomorrow and see what they can do for these kittens. I would much rather see them bringing joy to a family, than living outside where they have the chance of getting ran over or some other horrible fate.

Why the ? Thousands of nursing students need to learn anatomy somehow. There aren't enough human cadavers for them all.

I just couldn't bring myself to do that I'd see those little kitten eyes looking at me as I gave them up, and then I'd have to steal them back and run away! Haah.
