There was never any $45K.

No way would a rehab let him do the things he said or allow him to bring liquor.

Yep. If you need any more confirmation, just see rudeguy's post. There's a dude that's been there and done that, and isn't trolling.

Im addicted to opiates, not alcohol im free to get as drunk as i want while im here. Got a bottle of patron and barcadi.

Bullshit. I've never heard of any rehab facility that would allow the "inmates" to use alcohol...or any other drug.

The whole point of rehab is to break addictions and reduce the need to get high.

well they dont exactly know i have it, it was snuck in my luggage on the bottom coverd by clothes,And im not getting smashed every night i have 1 drink.

I'm surprised no one called bullshit on this yet. I have a close relative that went to 30-day programs a few times, and I know from being there that everything you bring into a rehab center gets searched thoroughly. He couldn't even get cologne into the facility due to the alcohol content. There's no way you're sneaking in 2 bottles of booze.

And if you aren't lying, then you have yet to learn what recovery is all about. Getting rid of your opiate addiction by abusing alcohol won't get you anywhere. It's a harsh reality to face, and most addicts can't do it, but you need to commit yourself to sobriety. If you're sincere in your attempts to get help, then I wish you the best of luck. But, so far, I don't think you get it...

The creators have decided to reformulate it:

Phusion Projects to Remove Caffeine, Guarana and Taurine from Products

Tuesday, November 16, 2010, Chicago, Ill. – Phusion Projects today announced the company’s intent to reformulate its products to remove caffeine, guarana and taurine nationwide, saying it has taken the necessary steps to do so and is informing its employees and distributors of the plans. Going forward, Phusion will produce only non-caffeinated versions of Four Loko.

In a statement, Chris Hunter, Jeff Wright and Jaisen Freeman, Phusion’s three co-founders and current managing partners said:

“We have repeatedly contended – and still believe, as do many people throughout the country – that the combination of alcohol and caffeine is safe. If it were unsafe, popular drinks like rum and colas or Irish coffees that have been consumed safely and responsibly for years would face the same scrutiny that our products have recently faced.

“In addition, if our products were unsafe, we would not have expected the federal agency responsible for approving alcoholic beverage formulas – the Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) – to have approved them. Yet, all of our product formulas and packaging were reviewed and approved by the TTB before being offered to consumers.

“We are taking this step after trying – unsuccessfully – to navigate a difficult and politically-charged regulatory environment at both the state and federal levels.

“Over the last several months we have been more than willing to talk with regulators and policymakers on the national, state and local levels. Our company has a history of being as cooperative as we possibly can to ensure that our products are consumed safely, responsibly and only by of-age adults.

“We hoped that clear, consistent, industry-wide standards regulating pre-packaged caffeinated alcoholic beverages would be the outcome of these conversations. We also hoped others would share our commitment to transparency and fairness.

“By taking this action today, we are again demonstrating leadership, cooperation and responsible corporate citizenship.”

Making concessions like this is something the company has a history of doing. It added multiple additional label warnings to its cans at the request of regulators; its alcohol-by-volume warnings are in a font as large as is allowed by law; and where required, Phusion sells versions of its product with reduced alcohol content.

Additionally, the company works with its distributors to share information about the appropriate way to stock and market its products; it works with retailers to provide point of sale information that reinforces the importance of asking for ID when selling any alcoholic beverage; and it includes warnings and labels on its cans that go above and beyond what the federal government requires – helping to ensure that consumers are informed and that its products don’t end up in the hands of minors.

In an open letter to regulators this month, Phusion said it would welcome the opportunity to work together to create uniform standards for all liquor and malt-based caffeinated alcoholic beverages. The company also stated that uniformity means uniformity in how the laws are written, applied and enforced. The company, unfortunately, was not given that opportunity.

lol. he just compared the consumption of rum and coke and irish coffee to the same type of consumption as 4 loco.

yes, you get dose of caffeine, dose of liqour, but the alcohol is way off. --Much, Much stronger in those... (well, probably more like 25% of total volume with a "strong" coffee or rum and coke), but they are consumed at far, FAR different rates.

wow, massive simple science fail. to compare the caffeine hit accurately, it would have to be whiskey + ~espresso? and about 2:3 loco drinks:irish coffee ratio to get a comparable rate?

(I honestly don't know the typical caffeine percentages of these energy drinks, but my understanding is that they are often formulated to levels near a shot of espresso, no?)

anyway, if this is similar, I wonder how often you see someone pound 3 8-ounce Irish coffees (espresso/Americano).

Multiple Rum and Cokes is kind of typical of crazy clubby night, but watered down, iced, 1/2 can of coke /= irish coffee /= 4 loco caffeine.

Loco was seltzered kool aid flavored Red Bull and bottom shelf liquor.

It was a kiddie drink designed to try to get the underage crowd and the homie-wannabes drunk and hyper.

As for "you shouldn't be outlawing this' people, I sense a bunch of homie-wannabes crying in their spilt RedBull and Tequila because they can't get their "Lemonade" buzz.

Honestly, I would have more sympathy for this company if they did not name their product "crazy" in giabt grafitti-tag looking text on a neon colored can that looks more like Mountan Dew EXTRABOLDSUPEROMGWTF! than an alcoholic beverage.

If the people had shown enough responsibility and restraint to consume this (how can you consume this properly? It was designed for a quick ripped buzZ!) then there would be no need for regulation. the company should not be held responsible for the suicide, but should be held responsible for a substance, even when consumed "moderately" can hurt your, or someone elses life.

Why don't we just make Sudafed completely legal again! I am sure nobody will start making Crystal again!

As for the troll, I guess he had his 4 Locos after his strenuous $5,000 and 6 HOURS of NA before hitting the Bacardi under his bed and shooting himself (Honestly! they allow guns in Rehab!!!!).

I have not seen him posting in a full page!!!

Or maybe his mother just took his iPhone....

Yeh, it's the attitude of the "creators" that really seals the deal for me. Their counter arguments are pretty pathetic. No tears shed from me. My thoughts on the drink are readily available in the other Loco thread.
