Pretty much my thoughts too... to me they don't really seem that different from one another.

My thoughts are the same....

They all suck and all have an agenda. It is designed to polarize the masses into the two political camps. dumb and dumber

Oh, and for the record I'm a fiscal conservative and a social libertarian. Someone will always ask in these threads. I should note that my opinion of CNN isn't any higher. I've never watched MSNBC. I get all of my news from the History Channel. It's 50 years late, but it seems pretty unbiased.

Most outlets lean one way or the other (mostly lefty), Fox jumped the shark and went from "news outlet leaning right" to "all right wing zealotry, all the time".

Some of the people who made those news 50 years ago would disagree ...

They also used the wrong black guy for a report on something on William Jefferson.

BBC FTW, they'll even report bad crap about themselves!

i do also like channel 4's news because sometimes they have really cool debates and because C4 like to push the boundries abit with taboo subjects and language and the like its usually entertaining.

Anyone in America who wants to even come close to understanding the "true stories" knows to read/listen from several different kinds of sources and using their own common sense before concluding anything. Unfortunately, the vast majority of people here do not want to spend the time to do that. Personally, I read a lot of news but I find myself more and more inclined just to ignore it all since it is chalked up with so much BS.

On Iraq:

Those who primarily watch Fox News are significantly more likely to have misperceptions, while those who primarily listen to NPR or watch PBS are significantly less likely.

Study Finds Widespread Misperceptions on Iraq

An in-depth analysis of a series of polls conducted June through September found 48% incorrectly believed that evidence of links between Iraq and al Qaeda have been found, 22% that weapons of mass destruction have been found in Iraq, and 25% that world public opinion favored the US going to war with Iraq. Overall 60% had at least one of these three misperceptions.

Such misperceptions are highly related to support for the war. Among those with none of the misperceptions listed above, only 23% support the war. Among those with one of these misperceptions, 53% support the war, rising to 78% for those who have two of the misperceptions, and to 86% for those with all 3 misperceptions.

OP asked about the news and everyone is going off about the talking heads. Their presentation of the news is not much different than anyone else. Their commentators are another topic.

BBC report finds bias within corporation

The BBC has failed to promote proper debate on major political issues because of the inherent liberal culture of its staff, a report commissioned by the corporation has concluded.

The report claims that coverage of single-issue political causes, such as climate change and poverty, can be biased - and is particularly critical of Live 8 coverage, which it says amounted to endorsement.

To be fair the report also found that not all was bad.

After a year-long investigation the report, published today, maintains that the corporation?s coverage of day-to-day politics is fair and impartial.

And if the guys spent as much effort on the other news outlets, they could do the same thing to them and some of the pages could go on for a lot longer.

If you don't think other new outlets make serious mistakes, i have two words for you "Dan Rather".

all teh channels are the same. they slant the news so far to what they want. the only way to get a good idea is to watch/read multiple articles. Even then its hard to cut through the bullshit.

Yes, government controlled media really is great, isn't it?

We aren't familiar with your local new station...

Yes, lets take screenshots of all the mistakes they made. And some of them weren't mistakes and just taken out of context, for example the one that says "REID: DID DEMS IGNORE FOLEY E-MAILS TO PRESERVE SEAT?" is pretty legitimate, imo. There was much talk about many dems being fully aware of the Foley scandal way before it broke news. They kept it under the table until election time when it would be more beneficial to them gaining off of it. At least thats what I remember about it, I'm not sure whatever came of that.
