Obvious you have never been in a high tech plant before.

Someone has to keep the high tech assembly line working.

It's not he operators, who make up the vast majority of employees, at the plants. Depending on the plant, they usually keep so many skilled technicians or engineers who can handle the situation. Some plants, however, rely on outside contractors that they call in to fix issues (or a combination of both).

The point being that the vast majority of many manufacturing jobs don't require much skill and with more automation, the skill level is going down (again, for vast majority of the workers).

How much credit does Trump deserve for this if it actually does happen? We gave Trump the full blame for the job losses. Was this move inevitable or was this move made due to Trump's attack on the working class and the environment or some other Trump move? I am having hard time sussing this one out.
While Trump may have helped them decide to pull the trigger, projects like this aren't done in months. I seriously doubt they would have abandoned the project under Hillary, since everyone thought that's who it would be under (almost) all of last year and they pressed on with the deal. Presidents always get the blame or credit even though they are probably one of the smallest factors.

Even smart operators will keep you in a job. However, good smart operators will be able to tell you how to make the machine better. That said, more and more of today's operators are from temp agencies and really don't care. The machine builders are required to put more and more bells and whistles in their equipment to handle this.

I will say most (99.9%) of our operators are permanent hires and all of our setup mechanics are permanent hires. The majority of the setup mechanics are really good as we have an active apprentice program for setup mechanics.

Yea that is steep. Wisconsin' total revenue is around 14 billion so that is about 25% of our revenue for one year. In any event, I could be looking at a nice salary bump because this was definitely create a lack of engineers in our area.

The incentives will be paid out over 25 years.

Well if this deal does indeed go down, I am probably looking at a $50K bump in salary. There will be an epic shortage of software engineers pushing salaries into the stratosphere. This boy is about to get paid!

How does an LCD display panel plant generate software jobs?

Or are all the software coders in Wisconsin migrating to manufacturing jobs in the LCD plant?

Machines don't run on magic (well sort of...they are made of magic smoke and if you let the smoke out, they don't work).

The Kenosha mayor has passed on having the plant in Kenosha, cites "major obstacles" and concerns that apparently went unheeded by state officials. He says Kenosha tax payers will be potentially at risk to cover unmet future costs. I guess Pleasant Prairie pulled out from negotiations as well. Have to wonder if this is going to end up looking bad for Walker.

It's going to Racine, as it's the last site left on the list now.

The jobs are expected to pay about $53,000 a year. Walker vowed it would give Wisconsin its own version of Silicon Valley.
Bwahahaha, good luck with that.

"A pledge to invest $30 million in a factory in central Pennsylvania in 2013 was also greeted with much ballyhoo, as reported by the Washington Post. "

"Four years later, the factory has still not been built, to the disappointment of state officials. They are not alone. In 2014, Foxconn promised a $1 billion investment in Indonesia, which has still not happened, according to the Washington Post. A pledge to invest $5 billion in Vietnam in 2007 has also failed to materialize, nor has the company met its promises for India."

I wonder if they will be bringing in their own chinese construction crews? Big chinese corporations like foxconn tend to bring their own workers in when they can. I wonder if they will hire 3 thousand americans then fill the rest of the positions with their own people?

It still has to be profitable right?

Chinese corporations can also have armed paramilitary groups under their control. That work with the PLA.
