Ordered one of these today. Best deal I've seen.

MSI Radeon 4830 512mb GDDR3 PCI Express

Cost is $91.99, free shipping with $20 Rebate so final is $71.99.

Much better bang for the buck than the Radeon 4670 or GeForce 9600GT I was considering.

I'm not too familiar with the 4830's, but the cooling looks comparable. However, the MSI one is advertised as having "4+1 Phase power".

Great deal. As I posted in the new 9600GSO thread The hard part about it is deciding between this for $65 and the PNY 9600 GSO for $40 at Fry's (both after rebates). Both seem to be great values for the processing power you get, respectively.

I have no idea why the heck they insisted on putting a dual slot blackplate on this thing. Even if the heatsink is large and goes into the next slot this thing could have only used one slot with an aftermarket cooler or watercooling.

Still...I'm really having a hard time deciding between this and the 9600GSO...arghhh. This is obviously more powerful but it's like 60% more money.

My rebate was rejected by MSI. Apparently you have to contact ZZF and have them send you a special invoice because any other proof of purchase is unacceptable. When I pleaded with them here was their response:

Under our rebate condition 1B, packing list is not accepted. The end-user
customer's invoice is used as proof of purchase. We do not accept Order
Confirmations, Packing Lists, Order Detail, or Order Statue.

Attached is the promotion form for your product. In red, it states:

"Note: ZipZoomFly and Mwave customers are required to contact vendor for
valid invoice"

Also attached is an example of a valid ZipZoomFly invoice. The status on the
invoice states that it has been "processed".

As a result, rebate has been rejected

We are sorry, but we do not accept re-submission under condition #9.

I have generally had good luck with rebates including two other MSI rebates in past years.
This takes the cake. I wrote back and told them something I sincerely mean:

I will never buy another MSI product again. Making a customer contact the vendor for a special invoice (that's what it is) for a lousy $20 is too much for this bargain hunter.

Luckily, I did the fine print on the MSI/ZZF $20 rebate for the 4830 and contacted ZZF to get a valid invoice. ZZF was extremely helpful and emailed me the invoice within minutes.

As of now, my MSI rebate was approved. Still a pain in the ass, though.

Its faster then 8800gt's OC 125mhz above stock. It definitely beats the 8800GT.

It trades blows with the 9800GTX, and trails the 4850 by 5-20% in real life gaming.
