I tried the Raspberry one the other day and I can't believe how good it is. First off it doesn't look like any other beer I've ever had. It's red. Not like reddish brown. It's red...like a lighter shade of cran-raspberry juice. It's thicker obviously, and a bit opaque. It forms a nice pink head (heh heh heh) that's fun to eat on it's own.

The taste is amazing too, like no other beer I've ever had. It's basically like drinking raspberry juice. I get tired of the taste of beer after one or two, but I could drink this stuff all night long. Also, it's not overly carbonated, and goes down smooth. If you enjoy raspberries, or other berries I highly recommend it. Goes great with the summer if you're looking for something refreshing.

ABV % is debatable. I've seen some that say it's 2.5, other's 4%, and the restaurant where I ordered it said 6. So who knows.

alright... so where can you buy them?

I thought you were against the use of drugs? Hypocrite.

I know I already said this, but I did have a beer float with this Lambic and while it was very delicious, it made me sick for the rest of the night. Do NOT Do It! I don't think it would be a good idea to even have it with a dessert.

bud has "no taste"
lambics have "bad taste"

This. A nice hoppy IPA tastes good. Leave the fruity flavors for the chick drinks.

That's changing a little. Wegmans stores are starting to carry beer, but they have to be somewhat "partitioned" from the rest of the departments.

This. My Weis sells beer in this fashion.

Yeah, no shit. A good beer is a good beer. I'm not asking why someone would prefer a decent IPA over a lambic. I'm wondering why guys would drink a shitty beer that tastes awful (or completely lacks taste) and is slower to get you drunk (if that's what you're shooting for), or why fruit automatically makes a drink superhomogay.

a bud has no taste and it makes me feel good
a lambic tastes bad and it makes me feel good

so why not drink the one at 1/3th the cost

BUT ALCOHOL IS NOT ILLEGAL

Mr. 123 also professed a desire for a prohibition on all mind altering substances including alcohol.

Well, most of the people who have actually had lambics in this thread seem to disagree with you, or at least there is some evidence that not all of them taste bad. I am mainly just curious why sweet drinks are automatically relegated to chick status even if they don't come with a tiny umbrella and face glitter.

I LOVE the St. Louis Kasteel Framboise (and can't find it anywhere!) I had it once at a place in DC with an aquarium theme.

not true at all. Lambics are a very old style, and few are naturally fermented (Cantillon, for ex.), meaning that rather than adding yeast, the malt is simply left open and exposed to the environment so that air-born yeast will do the job.

If anything, it's more "real" than most of the other styles out there today, that were developed long after this old-world process.

I'm not big on lambics, though.

Yup. "Traditional" hopped beer is one of the newer styles. Lambics are old school. They also aren't my favorite, but are nice to have every so often.

I would like to try this, doubt anyone around here has it though.

And for the record, that Wild Blue stuff is absolutely disgusting.

Real lambics/Geuze style beers are nothing like the mass-produced artificially flavoured stufff that lindemans produces. An authentic geuzewhich is not fruit flavoured) like those made by cantillion, 3 Fointenin, Boon, etc will be bracingly tart, yeasty, and have prickly carbonation similar to champagne (due to bottle fermentation). Even the fruit flavoured ones, will have the fruit flavour, but won't necessarily be any sweeter. As mentioned earlier, it is an authentic, classic beer style; Lindeman's just delivers a piss-poor version of it.
