Frank Zappa = Lotta Crappa

Was forced to listen to his "Strictly Commercial" cd while driving with a friend (4 hour drive, so I had to listen to the WHOLE cd) ... and MAN does that guy need to stop singing. Its some of the most ridiculous stuff to pass as 'music'. Anybody here actually like that stuff?

Hey the name of the album is Strickly commercial...... don't expect the best from Zappa but the more commercial stuff.

Zappa carrer is huge. I am a very big fan but I don't expect many to like him. This is not pop music.

I'm a big Zappa Fan but I don't like all of Frank's music. You are right, some of the stuff was just "Goof"

Overnight Sensation was probably his most successful Comercial Album. Zombie Wolf and Dynamo Hum were two hot tracks on that LP.

So I pulled on her hair, got her legs in the air and asked if she had any cooties down there

Dynamo finally did give in but I told her all she really needed was some discipline "Kiss my Aura Dora..right here on the flora..hmmm it's real angora! And how about you fauna, you wanna?"

I have a very tough time with his music, though friends are fans. To me it is all ultimately expertly-played novelty music, and his songs are too goofy to have any real emotional punch at all. Definitely an acquired taste.

Big Zappa fan myself and I don't like it all. Strictly Commercial is a crude sort of "best of" compilation. A few songs on there that I love, some that I quickly skip over.

A very good description though some of them are a little more commercial (like those I mentioned) SOme others that are pretty cool are "Moving to Montana, Joe's Garage, Willie the Pimp, Jewish Princess, Catholic Girls, Muffin Man, Fifty Fifty and Dancing Fool just off the top of my head. Those too are also novelty type of songs.

They guy put out over 50 albums in 25 years, many of them double length. So yes, there's some crap. But I consider him the be the only American musical genius of the 20th Century.
